What is Love? (Ashton Irwin || AU)

Just before we are about to land I notice Ashton is still sleeping. I lightly shake him to try and wake him so we could get right off when we land. After shaking him a few times and whispering his name he finally flutters his eyes open.

"Well good morning sunshine." I say smiling brightly. " Did you have a nice nap?" Ashton nods in response and stretches his arms out.

"How much longer till we land?" Ashton asks while sitting up and fixing his hair.

"About five minutes." I answer.

"Oh, really?" He asks surprised. I nod.

"Yup! You left me up the whole flight by myself." I say trying my best to sound upset but failing.

"I'm sorry."

"It's ok I'm just teasing." I say giggling.

"Attention passengers: we are beginning our descent and ask that everyone fastens their seat belts. We will be on the ground in a few minutes. Thank you."

"Hold my hand please." Ashton says his face beginning to pale. I grasp his hand a look at him worried.

"Are you ok?" I ask.

"I just don't like planes and in my opinion landing is the worst part." He says breathing heavily.

"You're going to be fine just breathe normally. Look at me?" I say turning his head towards me. "It's going to be alright. I'm right here." I gently rub his cheek with my thumb and smile at him. I hold his gaze until we are on the ground. "See it wasn't so bad was it?"

"No it wasn't actually. Thank you." I smile at him and he takes my hand once again as we get off the plane.

As we walk by the baggage claim area I see many people holding signs for the ones they are to be picking up. As I scan the crowd I notice a particular sign that was sure to be my mom.

"Oh my god." I mutter putting my face in my hands.

"What? What's wrong?" Ashton asks as he pulls our bags from the rotating conveyer belt.

"Nothing's wrong, it's just...I can give you one guess as to who my mom is." I say sighing. Ashton scans the crowd and as he is looking I glance up and see my mom jumping and waving. I groan and put my face into Ashton's chest as I hear him giggle.

"Are you embarrassed of me already!? You haven't even been home five minutes!" I hear my mom yell. I look up and see her walking towards us with her arms out. I smile and go to meet her for a hug, but she walks past me and hugs Ashton instead.

"Wow. Cool mom yeah. I'm feeling the love here." I say as I turn around to look at her hugging Ashton. Ashton pokes his tongue out at me and I roll my eyes at him.

"I'm joking baby come here." My mom says letting go of Ashton to hug me. I hug her back and hold back my tears because truth be told I've missed my mom so much. She may be crazy and loud at times but I still love her.

"I've missed you so much mama." I say.

"I've missed you too baby."She responds and pulls away from the hug. "It's been so quiet without you."

"Yeah right." I say laughing. She laughs along and gives me another quick hug.

"How about we get out to the car and then get some food?" My mom suggests. I look to Ashton and he nods his head.

"Yeah let's go." I say.

We piled into my mom's gray escape and drove off to the nearest Buffalo Wild Wings.

"I hope this is ok with everyone." My mom says as we file out and into the restaurant. Ashton and I mutter 'yeah' and 'it's fine' as my mom walks off to get us a table.

"So how do you like her so far?" I ask Ashton as we wait.

"Dude your mom is great." Ashton says.

"You'll change that answer when she actually has time to question you." I say laughing. Ashton rolls his eyes and shakes his head at me while passing his arm over my shoulder.

"Stop trying to make her sound bad. I know you love her and she's a mom. All moms question because they are curious and like to look out for their kids." Ashton says to me. I sigh in agreement and lean my head on his shoulder. I feel him kiss the top of my head and that's when my mom looks back and motions for us to follow her to the table.

God I hate when he's right.
