My phone starts to ring. I check and see that it's my mom. This is her third time calling on this day. "Mama what is it," I said.
"Nothing sweet pea. I just wanted to check on you and see how you are doing," said Mom. I try not to laugh.
"Same as I was two hours ago," I said.
"Well I just wanted to check," said Mom. I tell her okay and then we say goodbye.
"Who was that," asked Mia.
"Just my mom," I said. Mia leans over and kisses me.
"Hasn't she already called you like three times," said Mia.
"Yeah, that was the third time she called me. I love the woman but my life hasn't changed that much in two hours," I said.
"Why don't you talk to her and talk to her and ask her to only call once or maybe twice a day," said Mia.
"I don't want to be mean, I mean she's my mama. She gave me life Mia," I said. Mia laughs at that. She kisses me again.
"Okay," said Mia. She wrapped her arms around me and we cuddled on the couch.
"Want to watch Bewitched," I asked. Mia just nods and they turn on the show. As we watch I start to drift off to sleep but my phone rings, waking me up. I turned it over to see my mom.
"Yes mom," I said, trying not to sound annoyed.
"Is something wrong Kell," said Mom.
"No, just about to go to sleep," I said.
"Okay, well I love you goodnight," said Mom.
"Goodnight," I said. I hang up the phone and cuddle back up to mia.
It has now been months of this. I hoped it would calm down after time but it hasn't. "Mom, I need to tell you something," I said.
"What is it," said Mom.
"You can't call me multi times a day anymore. One or two times. One in the morning, one at night or something. I can't do it anymore. It's like five times a day now. I miss you but you can't call me this much anymore," I said.
"Oh okay honey," said Mom.
"Don't be sad mom. I love you but it's driving me crazy," I said.
"No it's okay Kelly, thanks for telling me. I didn't even notice. This is just hard for me. I miss you but you're right I need to let you have a life," said Mom.
"I miss you too mom and I love you. Now go have your life okay," I said.
"Okay," said Mom.
