Dear Samuel,
It feels strange handing these letters to Victoria rather than hiding them at the bottom of the stream. The air of mystery surrounding them is somewhat lost now, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss it. Now that Mama is letting me leave the farm a bit more, maybe we can go back to it. It was quite fun to walk the stream after school in search of the bottle.
To be honest, I don't quite know why I'm even writing this letter when we are to meet for the first time tomorrow. Maybe it's just out of habit now, maybe it's a way to calm my nerves.
Although I've wanted to meet you in person since we first started writing these letters, knowing that it's going to happen has set my mind spinning. Writing to each other is one thing, especially as I can come off as someone else entirely different, but I might not be the person you expect me to be once we meet in person.
I don't want to let you down.
I'm hoping I won't, but I suppose time will tell.
No backing out now.
Yours,
Eli
