"I warned you, at low levels, Appraisal is completely useless," Jonathan said with a smile.

"Alright, what's next?" Reinhard asked.

"Look for the cheapest magic and resistance, but don't buy the resistance," Jonathan instructed.

"Why shouldn't I buy the resistance?" Reinhard inquired.

"The cheaper a skill is, the easier it is to acquire naturally. This will determine the training location I'll choose for you," Jonathan explained.

Reinhard nodded in understanding. After searching, Reinhard found that shadow and fire magic could be purchased for 100 skill points each, as well as their respective resistances. He then relayed this information to Jonathan.

"Take both magics" Jonathan advised.

After purchasing them, Reinhard pondered a few things before beginning to speak.

"Got a question," Reinhard began, "how do I get Shadow Resistance if I don't buy it?"

-"It's quite simple, actually. You just have to cast shadow spells on yourself," Jonathan replied as if it were the most normal thing in the world.

"No, please, I value my life." Reinhard quickly responded.

Jonathan chuckled at Reinhard's response before pausing to ask a question.

"Oh, right, do you know how to use a weapon?"

"No, I've never wielded a weapon before. Plus, in my world, or more precisely my country, we're not plagued by war," Reinhard explained.

"So, if you had the choice between several weapons, which one would you choose?" Jonathan inquired.

"I think I'd opt for the lance. It offers several strategic advantages, including superior range, the ability to pierce enemy defenses, and increased agility to precisely target the opponent's weak points. And..."

"It's okay, you can stop there. You didn't need to justify your choice, you know?" Jonathan interrupted with a smile.

"Ah, okay..." Reinhard responded, a bit disappointed.

"Rest a bit more, your SP is still low. I'll bring you some food to remedy that," Jonathan said.

Jonathan left the room and returned after a few minutes with a plate containing what appeared to be frog meat and a glass of water.

Wait, I've had frog before on a trip to France, but to get this much meat just from one thigh, theirs must be huge! Reinhard thought to himself.

"It looks appetizing, doesn't it? It's Strikros Frog meat. Here, try it," Jonathan said, placing the plate on Reinhard's lap. As Reinhard took his first bite, he almost vomited, feeling a sharp pain in his stomach.

"Oh, I forgot to mention, the training starts now. This meat is poisoned, so it will allow you to acquire the Poison Resistance skill. If you're worried the poison might kill you, don't worry, I have antidotes," Jonathan explained, producing a bottle from a hole in the space the width of an arm.

"I won't let you sleep until you finish your plate. It might give you a chance to acquire Exhaustion Resistance ," he added.

This guy... despite his angelic appearance, he's a damn demon!' Reinhard thought to himself.

{Reinhard POV}

Seriously, what is wrong with this guy? Giving poisoned food to a guy who just woke up. I know I said I wanted to survive, but give me at least some time to recover! And on top of being poisoned, the food is downright disgusting. Seriously, he could have made an effort to make it at least edible. Oh great, here he comes again with...

What the hell is this thing! There in front of me sits a frog leg cuisine about a meter long on a large tray, but the worst part is, it's not cooked!

"Now that you're feeling a bit better, eat this," he says, placing the tray on the table and gesturing for me to sit down.

Do you really think I'm going to survive by eating this, and on top of that, this thing didn't even taste good cooked, so I can't even imagine raw.

I sit at the table, and the nauseating smell of the leg assaults my nostrils. I feel like throwing up, please save me!

Pull yourself together, Reinhard. If this scares you, then you'll never be able to face the dangers of this world.

As I take the first bite, a pain shoots through my entire body as if I'm burning from the inside out, and suddenly, I hear a voice.

<Proficiency has reached the required level. Acquired skill [Poison Resistance LV1].>

Yes! Yes! Yes!!!

I immediately stopped eating, tears streaming down my face as I raised my arms in the air at those words.

After three days of eating poisoned meat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, I finally obtained this skill! I can finally eat normal food again.

Clapping brought me back to reality; Jonathan was sitting in front of me, giving me small applause.

"Congratulations, you finally obtained that skill. Oh, and sorry to break it to you, but you'll still be eating that, but at least breakfast won't be poisoned anymore."

"But...!"

Wait, now that I think about it, he never promised to stop even after I obtained the skill.

"However, don't think getting Poison Resistance is an excuse to not finish your plate. Come on, finish it."

"Yes, sir," I said, trying to hold back my tears.

After finishing that disgusting meal, this demon opened a hole in space and pulled out a wooden lance, then handed it to me and said, "Here, take this. We're going to train outside."

Oh, mom, I want to go home, I thought as I took the wooden lance.
