Another day, another catastrophe.
"HOY! kanina ka pa lugmok ah," Caryl conveyed.
"Hm? wala wala."
"Nag away kayo ni Kuya Carlos noh?"
Not denying. Gia only avoided eye contact with Caryl, this assured Caryl that her guess was right.
"LUH! Seryoso?!" she asked, "Ano nangyari?"
"Teacher called out to him about yesterday," Gia annoyingly stated.
"Ay! Ganon? Hulaan ko di kayo nag kaintindihan no?"
"Mangkukulam ka ba? Halos lahat ng hula mo tumatama e, sa sunod tatamaan ka sa'akin," Gia teasingly said.
Their lunch time was filled with laughter. Walking distance lang naman kasi yung cafeteria. However, on the way there. They accidentally bumped into a group of people. Known as "Cold Crows", a bunch of spoiled mean kids.
"Well, I have been wondering where did that stink cane from. UgH! and we found it,"
"FRIANNE! HOW COULD THE CLEANERS EVEN NOT SEE THIS GIANT SKANK! MYGOSH!"
Frianne Mendoza, the reigning queen. She is very well known, she is smart, talented, pretty, and most of all the daughter of the school principal. However, her smarts didn't gave her enough intelligence for her to fix her personality. She is cunning. Enough to make people believe she's a soft sweet girl who couldn't harm a fly.
"Gia, don't mind them." Caryl reminded.
Clenching her jaw Gia decided to let go of their comments.
Gia is not that different in their status quo. She came from a well known and wealthy family too, the thing is. Their downfall happened during her 8th birthday, they decided to fly to Disney. On their way, a car suddenly lost its control crashing into theirs.
Luckily, Gia was hugged by her mother on time. Enough to protect her from the damages, but her parents didn't survived. Gia's brother was only 16 when that happened. At a vulnerable age, he had to stood up for her and their family business. His unfamiliarity to the business world became their downfall, they had to sell their own company to their uncle, in the hopes of getting it back when his brother is ready to take over once again, they never got it back.
"Ulol! Kala mo ikina-kinang nila ang pagiging mata pobre. I am not even that poor."
"Gi? Ayos ka lang?" Caryl asked.
"Ano bang magagawa ko? Bango ko e, wala lang mga taste yon. Sayang pag pa rhinoplasty nila!"
Caryl only laugh as her friend, Gia, turned the situation into a humorous joke. Unbothered, they continued their walk to the cafeteria.
"Ano ba to si Aling Myrna, mas lasang tubig pa yung sabaw ng lomi niya," padabog ni Caryl.
"Ganon ba talaga ka labnos?"
"Tikman mo,"
"Pass."
"ANO BAYAN!!" Caryl exclaimed making Gia cry in tears.
Suddenly the whole school fell into silence when their school podcast suddenly rang announcing something.
"Good morning Vivennias! I'd like to ask Gia Alexandra Vicosta in the principals office, urgently. That's all, thank you and have a great day!"
"Lord ano nanaman 'to?"
Without any hesitation, Gia rose to her chair and packed her things giving a deep sigh.
"Samahan kita?" Caryl offered.
"No. Kaya ko." she said determinedly.
With that Gia left the cafeteria alone. In order not to drag Caryl in her misery, she might need to put some distance.
Entering the office, the principal greeted Gia with affirming smile.
"Miss Vicosta, greetings!"
"Principal."
"Ah! strong willed as ever. I called on you to inform that,"
"DADDY! oh."
Suddenly Frianne interrupted their conversation.
"Leave." Frianne said.
Gia knew that she was talking about her. However the Principal was the one who called on her. She didn't dare to move.
"I SAID,"
"ENOUGH FRIANNE! You may leave now Miss Vicosta. My apologies." the Principal sincerly said.
As Gia left, the office was suddenly filled with yelling and sounds of breaking glass.
"What a weird day."
Perhaps the world is as unpredictable as her own mind; it operates in a way where nothing can be taken for granted, much like her own mental stability. Just when she thought her day was weird enough, another thing came following. When Gia entered their classroom she noticed how everyones gazed followed her, just when the unsettling feeling got under her skin, Ms. Anton, their adviser announced that they should leave the room immediately. Her heart raced as she tried to make sense of the sudden disruption. Was it a drill? A false alarm? The uncertainty gnawed at her.
Following the instruction, Gia chose to stay at the library where no one stays, well except for the greek and nerdy kids. She spent her time rummaging with random books, that somehow pretty much filled her interests. Sooner she fell asleep once again.
"You're such a sleepyhead y'know, dito ka pa talaga natutulog hays,"
Even in the depths of her sleep, Gia heard a unfamiliar voice, however she felt like an elephant had just stepped on her unable to move she chose to continue her sleep.
