The Hunt: Russia

Chapter 3: Light or Dark

                          Stain put the heart on his uniform and loaded his gun. "Were we going next?" He asked and Jake smiled at his eagerness to fight. "The communications tower that was destroyed by 117..." He said and loaded his own gun. "...and kill everything in our path." He said and they all walked in the direction of the communications tower.

                       Silent pulled the string on his parachute but it didn't work. "Damn it!" He yelled in his head as he violently pulled the string. Then as he almost hits the ground the parachute ejects and he flys up. Then he touched down and he pulled off the chut. He looked around and saw that he was the first to land. He looked up and saw the hundreds of paratroopers still parachuting. He looked at the line of trees and saw a couple rebels come out. He realized he didn't have a weapon on him so he did the next best thing. Play dead. He dropped on the ground and put back on his parachute. Then one of the men noticed him and pointed him out to the other. They both walked over to his body and looked at it. "What do you think happened to him?" Asked one of them and poked his body with a stick. "He must of had a malfunctioning parachute." He said and loaded his browning BP. "Heads up." He said and pointed his finger in the air. They both started firing bullets in the air and one of them fired a LMG and put many holes in a paratrooper. After about ten seconds they had the field cleared. "Wait, there's one more." Said the one with the browning. Silent thought it would be better to save one than none. He jumped up and grabbed the man and pulled the browning out of his hands. He held the gun to the side of his head. The other rebel lifted his LMG and aimed it at the two. "Shoot right through me kid." He said and waited for him to shoot. "I'm sorry sir, I can't..." He said and dropped his gun and raised his hands. "I can't kill my superior." He said and waited for what silent would do. Silent motioned his gun to turn around. The man turned around and started walking and silent followed. "Why Dan, why would you do that?" He asked angrily and waited for his response as they walked into the line of trees. "I don't kill my superiors." He said and kept walking through the forest. "That was a order you had to obey!" He yelled obviously frustrated by the situation. Silent pointed to the ground and Dan sat down. Then he pushed the other next to him.

                      Silent pulled out a piece of paper and a pen and wrote something down. He handed the paper to Dan and waited for his response. He read the paper and it said. "You want a drink?" It said and Dan showed his CO the piece of paper and they both nodded. Silent reached into his bag and pulled out beer and multiple glass cups. He filled all three cups with the beer and handed one to each. They all drank the beer and sat there for a second. "Thank you." Said Dans CO and silent just nodded. "Were did you get this beer?" Asked Dan and silent wrote something down and handed it to him. "It came straight from Germany." He said and filled all the cups again. "He got this from Germany Kyle!" He whispered to his CO and Kyle became shocked. "How did you get this?" Dan asked him and his Kyle nodded in agreement. He wrote on a piece of paper and handed it to Kyle. "I got it from my German friend." It read and they both nodded. 

                   They just sat there waiting for something to happen. Then a man's voice called out into the forest. "Return the men or die." The voice said and all of them stood up. "What's your name?" Asked Kyle and silent handed him a piece of paper. "Silent." Is what it said and he nodded then he and Dan walked out of the line of trees. 

                    Kyle started to get conflicted. Russ said that all soldiers were rude and didn't do anything right. Then he made up his mind and chose the right side. He pulled out his browning BP and looked at the true enemy. There was one jeep with four in it. He ran up to the jeep and shot a bullet into the driver and hit the other in the head with his gun. He grabbed one of the dead men's assault rifles and fired into the two men in the back seat. He dragged out one of the body's when Dan looked at him like he was crazy. "What?" He asked Kyle as he pulled out the second. "Silent!" Kyle called and he walked out of the forest. "Get in." He said and climbed into the drivers seat.

                   "are you coming or not Dan?" Kyle asked him and Dan still stood there. "Why would you do that?!" He yelled at Kyle getting angry and pulled out his pistol and aimed it at him. "Russ saved us!" He yelled at him getting ready to pull the trigger. "No! he filled us with lies and propaganda so we would fight for him!" He yelled back at him. "He didn't save us. He turned us into puppets. We killed many men fighting for the real cause." He said matching Dan's anger and unholstered his own gun. "They were the enemy." He yelled at him and before he could continue Kyle yelled again. "They were innocent!" He yelled and fired a bullet in Dan's leg. "You may have took the first step.. but I'm gonna take the second." He said to him and opened the door and walked to Dan. He took rope out of his backpack and tied his arms to a tree. "You have chosen the wrong side." Dan said to him and nodded. "I may have chosen the wrong side, but I haven't chosen the dark side like you." He said and tossed him his radio. 

               Silent and Kyle walked back to the jeep and got in. Before he started the engine, silent handed him a note. "Was that hard for you?" It read and Kyle nodded. "It was harder than you think. He was my little brother and he didn't know about how this kind of stuff works." He told him as he put the jeep in reverse and looked into his little brothers eyes. He looked desperate for him to turn back on his side. He was innocent in the propaganda that surrounds all the rebels". He told him and put the jeep in drive and did a half circle and drove toward a trail. They drove down the trail and past a Matilda II that they found in a WWII trash yard  drive toward a huge group of paratroopers should be at the coast. "You wanna get an upgrade?" Kyle asked and Silent raised a eyebrow.

                     The tank drove down the street toward the enemy paratroopers. Then a jeep with two men passed by. "Did you know who those two were?" The driver of the Matilda asked the other men in the tank. "I think the driver was Kyle and the other was Dan." Said the man at the LMG at the top of the tank told them. As they drove a trail left in their wake making it easy for Silent and Kyle to find them. 

                    As they drove the driver saw a man emerge from the woods. The man waved at the tank for them to slow down. "Wait I thought I saw Kyle in the jeep." Asked the tank driver as he scratched his head confused. "I don't know... I'll check it out Taylor." the man at the LMG told him and the driver nodded. He jumped off the tank and walked toward Kyle. "Hey Doug." Kyle greeted and waved for him to come closer. "I think we are fighting the wrong side." He whispered to him confusing Doug. "What makes you say that?" He whispered matching his tone of voice. "Russ  said that all the soldiers fighting for America were corrupted and manipulated the country into thinking we were the enemy right?" He asked him and Doug just nodded so he could hear more. "He lied to us." He said and took a step back and waved into the forest and a paratrooper walked out. Doug was about to unholstered his gun when Kyle grabbed his wrist and told him to wait. "This man is an example of his lies. This man treated me and Dan with such kindness I have never seen. He captured us doing his jobs and treated us as kind as he could." He called out to make sure the rebels in the tank heard him. "So will you help me stop Russ?" Kyle asked them and Doug took a step back. "You wouldn't think that I would really listen right? Why would we kill our own savior?" He said to him and the hatch to the tank opened and Taylor and four others jumped out. They all stood in a line and saluted to Kyle and Silent. Doug thought about it for a second and then made up his mind. He raised his hand in a salute and stood with the others. Kyle smiled to himself and they all got in the tank and silent drove with the tank to the paratroopers.
