King Shane's POV:
Sitting inside the council room with Lord Miles at my side, I feel my anger rise at the news he had just shared with me. Not only that a person I love could disrespect me in such a way but that if it was true, everything would be ruined. I tell Lord Miles to repeat himself and he does, his story unchanging.
"As you are well aware my King, rumors spread like wildfire amongst the kingdom on the regular. It is next to impossible to stop the rumbling of loose lips. I would not bring this to your attention if it was suspected to merely be words." Lord Miles speaks carefully but there is no doubt in his words.
I turn from the window back to my closest friend.
He stares back, unwavering.
"What are you saying?"
He clears his throat, uncomfortable.
He shifts before speaking.
"Forgive me, but if this is true, you must take action Shane. Something such as this could risk everything you have built."
I tap at the table, my mind racing.
"What do you suggest I do?"
He shakes his head.
"Something as important as this should be discussed with the council. I cannot pass such a judgement."
I place a hand upon his shoulder.
"You are my closest ally. Speak freely, Miles."
"You must do your duty as King."
Queen Celeste's POV:
I rise early the next morning, hoping to have enough time between my duties and leisure to spend time at all my children's estates. Not only did I need to order supplies to manage the properties, I care most about visiting my children. I make my way over to the ripe, ringing a bell, signaling to my ladies in their chamber that I am awake. However no one comes.
Confused, I make my way to my chamber door. I pull the handle but it doesn't open. I knock at the door to alert my knight but again there is no response. Now panicked, I begin to bang at the door, shouting for help.
For hours the door remains locked.
I sit, still in my nightgown unable to dress myself as the outfits are too complicated to prepare and suit up alone. Finally, as the sun is high in the sky, the door is unlocked. Lord Miles enters, alone, his face stern.
"Lord Miles, please tell me what has happened. Are the children alright?"
"Rest assured, your children are alright. My Queen, I am here to inform you that by order of King Shane you are to remain in your chambers until further notice." He tells me
"Whatever for? Let me speak to the King." I demand
"I am not at liberty to say, Your Majesty. That is all I can say."
With this he turns and exits.
What has happened to cause such a thing?
