I remember when I first met her. I was with my cousin Christa in the mall looking for a gift that we would give to our grandma.

"Sean! Over here!" Christa said.

"She's so pretty." I said.

"Sophie?"

"You know her?"

"Yeah. She's my classmate."

I remember Christa goes to this exclusive high school for girls on the other hand I go to an exclusive high school for boys.

"Wait. I'll introduce her to you. Sophie!"

"No. Don't!"

But it was too late. Sophie was already approaching our direction.

"Hello! What are you doing here?"

"My cousin and I are just looking for a gift for our grandma."

"That's sweet."

"How about you?"

"I was buying paints."

"Oh. Yeah. I remember you liked painting."

She just smiled.

"Oh. By the way, Sophie this is my cousin Sean. Sean, this is my classmate Sophie."

"Hello. Nice to meet you." she waved at me.

"Nice to meet you too."

"I better go. I need to go back early. Nice to meet you again Sean."

All I that I was able to do was to wave goodbye.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I wasn't able to sleep that night because of Sophie. So the next day I kept telling my cousin to ask Sophie what she thinks about me.

"She thinks you are a kind guy. She also thinks you look smart and cute." Christa said.

"Really?"

"Really. Here. That's her telephone number. Just call her there. Okay? Quit annoying me with inquiries on Sophie."

"Thank you so much Christa."

But I didn't have the courage to call her. One time, I had the courage to call her but when I heard her voice I immediately put down the phone.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fate was kind to me. The following month, we met again. Her school and my school had an interaction together. Fate was even kinder because on that day we became partners. Being partners on that interaction means we get to sit, eat and play games together. We got to know each other also on that day. I knew that aside from painting, she likes to dance. Also, that she has a younger sister that she's not that close with. That day was the start of our friendship.

We talk almost every night. We also help each other when it comes to doing home works, papers and projects. That friendship lasted for about year until I had the courage to ask her to be my girlfriend. And when I asked her to be my girlfriend, she said yes. She even asked why it took me a long time to ask her. She told me that even before we became friends she already likes me too and she already knew that I like her because my cousin Christa told her.

And that started our 4 year relationship. We went out on dates, talked almost every night and went to each other's proms and graduation balls. But somehow the situation changed when Sophie didn't go to college but instead became an agent and I went to college to pursue my dream to be a doctor. But we managed to make our relationship work. We even get to go to different countries like Prague during our free times just to bond and spent time together.

I thought we would last forever. I imagined Sophie to be the girl that I would marry and have kids with. But I was wrong. It happened when one time we decided to meet for dinner. We decided to walk after eating and the suddenly a guy was about to shoot me but Sophie took the bullet for me. She was in ICU for a few days and then when she woke up, she broke up with me.

"Sean, I don't want you getting hurt because me. I rather lose our relationship than lose you. Hope you understand my decision. I love you so much that I'm letting you."

Was all that she said. I didn't know what to do. But eventually, I came up with a decision.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I went to the States to finish my studies. After finishing, I went back to the Philippines and tried out to be an agent. Sophie who goes by Agent Athena by that time already was so surprised when she saw me in the team of novices that are trying out to be an agent. She didn't say a word but I can see it in her face. But this time fate wasn't kind to me. I was the worst novice in that batch when it comes to physical training. I suck, so bad. But Zeus liked me. He gave me a chance and eventually became an agent but not a field agent but as the doctor of Adelphos.

A rumor about me and Sophie went around the agency. The rumor that Sophie and I had a relationship and she needed to leave me so that I'd be safe. What they were saying are true but somewhat it still hurt both me and Sophie. One day, she decided to talk to me.

"I know we'll see each other almost everyday so I'm clearing things up. I don't want the atmosphere to be awkward when we are together. We have almost a year of friendship to build on. Us being friends is not a bad idea and I hope we stay that way." she said then left immediately.

Our relationship stayed as friends but I still love her very much. I'm actually been mustering every courage and confidence I have to propose to her. But lately, it is as if her mind is elsewhere. Maybe it's because of the new guy, Caleb. He seemed to be close to Sophie now a days. I can see that Caleb really is interested in Sophie. But it didn't stop me from proposing to her. A few weeks after she came back from Korea, I proposed to her. But she turned me down. There must be something that happened in Korea that made Sophie turn me down.

Looking at this engagement ring made me think. Am I willing to fight for my love? Do I really still love her? People change and we changed, she said. Did I really change into a person that Sophie no longer likes? I really don't know what to think right now.
