"There look"

"Yes next to the girl with the curls and the redhead"

"She looks a lot like Mason"

"The one with the glasses"

"Is she really the daughter of John Clarke?"

"Did you see his scar?"

"They are so annoying" I said in a whispering tone to Harry, Ron and Hermione the next day. Whispers followed Harry and I the day we left our dormitorys.

We really needed to find our class rooms, but it was very hard to concentrate on one thing, when there were people queing up in front of class rooms to see us. According to Hermione there were a hundred and forty two staircases who kept changing.

The ghosts weren't much help. Sir Nicolas helped us a few times with directions, but Peeves was really annoying. Even worse, if possible, was the caretaker, Argus Filch. We managed to get on the wrong side of him on our first actual morning, because we accidentally wanted to go trough the door on the third floor. Luckily we were rescued by Professer Quirrell, as Mr. Filch threatened to lock us in the dungeons.

All the teachers were very different. Our first lesson was Transfiguration with Professor McGonnagall. She was strict and gave us a talking-to the moment we sat down. I sat next to Hermione, or as I decided to call her "Mione". Behind us were Ron and Harry.

"Transfiguration is some of the most complex and dangerous magic you will learn at Hogwarts." she said. "Anyone messing around in my class will leave and not come back. You have been warned."

The class was all tense after her speech, but then she changed her desk into a pig and back again. Everyone was impressed and we couldn't wait to start, but soon we realised that we wouldn't change furniture into animals for a long time.

We first had to take very complicated notes. I heard Ron groan midway and telling Harry that he doesn't understand any of it. Afterwards we were each given a match and had to turn it into a needle.

At the end of the lesson only Hermione and I have made any difference to our matches and we
received a rare smile.

I was really looking forward to Defence the Dark Arts, but Quirrells lesson turned out to be a bit of a joke. His classroom smelled strongly of garlic, which everyone said was to ward off a vampire he'd met in Romania and was afraid would be coming back to get him one of these days.

His turban, which everyone was quite interested in, had been given to him by an African prince as a thank-you for getting rid of a troublesome zombie, but when Seamus asked how he fought off the zombie, Quirrell went pink and started talking about the weather.

I was relieved to find out that i wasn't miles behind everyone else, because lots of people come from muggle families and didn't even know they were witches an wizards. Even people like Ron didn't have much of a head start.

🤍

By the end of the week we knew our way around the castle pretty well. Hermione and I got up a little later than usual on Friday which means we also got to breakfast a little later.

"Hurry up, Mione, I'm starving" I groaned as we made our way to the Great Hall and Hermione was looking for a quill in her bag.

"Yes, I'm coming!" she said and shortly after we entered the Great Hall. We immediately spotted Ron and Harry and made our way to them.

"Ron pass me that porridge, please, I'm starving" I said as I sat down opposite to him. "What have we got today?" Harry asked as i started cutting strawberries to put on my porridge.

"Double potions with the Slytherins" Ron answered. Hermione almost choked on her orange juice and Harry stopped eating. None of us have heard one nice thing about him and we all were sort of scared of the first lesson."Snape's Head of Slytherin's House. Everyone says he favours them."

Next to us were Mason and the twins and I noticed they were laughing. "You guys are in for hell" Mason said. "Yes, we had Snape yesterday and we lost exactly twenty seven points" George agreed.

"I wish McGonnagall favoured us" Harry said miserably.

Just then the post arrived. I got used to it by now, but it gave me a bit of a shock the first time a hundred of owls had streamed into the Great Hall.

Mom and Dad have already sent me a lot of letters. Once they even homemade biscuits. And even though I loved being at Hogwarts, I really missed them. Today, Harry had gotten a letter for the first time.

"Hagrid invited me to have a cup of tea" Harry said. He looked very happy with the letter and borrowed a Ron's quill to write an answer.

"Can I  come with you?" I asked "I really want to meet Hagrid"

"You know that's just an excuse..." Harry answered "Just admit that you want to spend time with me."

"No, I actually don't. You can go by yourself then-" I said but Harry cut me off.

"No it's okay." he quickly said. Ron and Hermione were awkwardly sitting next to us, but Ron broke the silence, saying that he wanted to come and meet Hagrid as well. Hermione said she couldn't go.

After a tasty breakfast with everyone, Hermione, Harry, Ron and I made our way down to the dungeons together with the rest of the Gryffindors nervously.
