Today is my birthday, and I'm officially nineteen. An adult.

My birthday is less exciting than Hyunjin's birthday. Maybe it's because his was on a Saturday and mine is on a Tuesday. Maybe it's because Hyunjin as a person is more exciting than me.

But that doesn't mean I'm not looking forward to it.

The school day went by like any other day-classes, chaotic lunch, more classes. There were a few students and teachers here and there who wished me a happy birthday, but other than that everything was normal.

But now, it's the end of school, and when I make it to my locker, I find my eight best friends waiting for me, each of them quaking with excitement.

"Sooyun..." Jisung announces, "we're going to the movies!"

~flashback, one week ago~

A long day of school had just ended. Most of Sooyun's friends had already left, so she was making her way to the library. As she walked through the halls, she suddenly spotted Jisung, Felix, and Jeongin. Sooyun raised her hand to greet them, but they didn't see her. Shurgging, she continued her way towards the library.

"Did you tell the others about Lotte World yet?" Jeongin asked.

Sooyun stopped. She didn't mean to eavesdrop and she knew she could just go up to them and join the discussion, but she wanted to hear what they were saying briefly. Nothing harmless.

"Yeah, I told everyone." Felix affirmed.

It was true-Felix had told Sooyun and Yeona about their plan to celebrate Hyunjin's birthday at Lotte World's theme park that upcoming weekend.

"You told Hyunjin too?"

"Obviously."

"Wait, wasn't it supposed to be a surprise?"

A brief pause.

"Who cares." Felix finally shrugged.

"He would've started complaining that we don't care about him if we didn't tell him we were planning something."

"So we're going on roller coasters on Hyunjin's birthday! I'm so excited."

"Yay!"

Sooyun smiled. She was excited too. But for now, it was time to study. With that, she resumed her trek to the library.

"Guys, what about Sooyun?" Jisung asked suddenly.

At the mention of her own name, Sooyun stopped.

"I told her too." Felix said.

"No, that's not what I meant."

"Okay? What about her?"

"Well," Jisung clarified, "what are we doing for her birthday?"

"Huh?" Felix questioned, "I don't know, when's her birthday?"

A dead silence fell over the floor. Although Sooyun couldn't see them, she almost felt the tension that was brewing.

"It's three days after Hyunjin's." Jisung finally said with clenched teeth.

"O-oh it is?" Jeongin stuttered.

"Oops. I didn't know that." Felix said.

Sooyun sighed with a shrug. People forgetting her birthday was to be expected, especially when she was the one refraining from announcing it each year.

But for some reason, Jisung wasn't having it.

"Yah! How can you forget her birthday!" He yelled, sounding genuinely upset.
