Taehyung stood still staring at his grandma and brother who were taken aback at his sudden presence.
"What?" His voice was a mix of confusion and frustration. Taehyung did hear about their marriage talks, he had a lot on his plate and the talk of marriage was a cherry on top. "What do you mean by marriage?"
Insook smiled, "Tae, dear, we were just looking at the best dates for you. Who knows you wouldn't find your forever partner in them?" She giggled. "Do you want to look at them?"
"Grandma," The younger heaved an irritated sigh. "It's never going to happen."
Insook's smile slowly fell. "What?"
"My marriage!!"
His voice beamed in the silent mansion, while Insook and Yoongi were surprised that Taehyung shouted. The younger didn't intend to raise his voice but after he saw Jungkook with Ryan, his brain and heart were going crazy. It was too much for him to take.
"Tae," Yoongi stepped forward. "Let's talk it calmly."
"There is nothing to talk about, Hyung. Let me make this clear," Taehyung eyes hardened, "I don't intend to marry, not now, never."
"Tae, you can't live alone. At some point in life, you have to settle down, and I am in my old age, maybe I have some more time to live, I want to see you happy with your partner before I close my eyes." Insook's voice wavered, eyes filling with tears.
Taehyung felt a pang in his heart, guilt filling in but he couldn't accept it. How can he tell her that he is broken like a wine glass, shattered and useless? He hates the idea of commitment and marriage because of what happened to him. How could he even love someone when he couldn't piece himself back together?
He took a deep breath, trying to stabilize his voice. "If you force me into this, I don't have any other way but to leave back to Italy."
The room fell silent, his words still ringing in their ears. Insook's eyes widened, her face paling as the reality of Taehyung's ultimatum sank in. "Bear, you don't mean that," she whispered, her voice trembling.
"I do, Grandma," Taehyung replied, firmly.
"Taehyung!!" Yoongi's voice came out as a warning. His eyes glared at the younger to watch his words and tone. The elder quickly stepped beside Insook holding her, she was having a hard time sinking in the younger's words.
Taehyung panicked at the sight and reached out to hold her but Yoongi stopped him.
"No!, you have done enough. You should go to your room, Taehyung." Yoongi's stern voice sends shivers down the younger's spine.
"But-"
"Just go to your room, we'll talk later." Yoongi's looked away from the younger.
Taehyung felt a lump in his throat, his emotions swirling in a chaotic mess. He wanted to explain, to make things right, but the weight of Yoongi's command left him no choice. He nodded slowly, his eyes filled with regret, and turned to leave.
As he walked away, he could hear Insook's soft sobs, and it tore at his heart. He had never intended to hurt her, but his desperation to escape the pressure had led him to this.
"Let's go, grandma, we should talk." Yoongi took Insook to her room.
Reaching his room, Taehyung closed the door behind him and leaned against it, feeling a wave of exhaustion and sorrow. He sank to the floor, burying his face in his hands.
The events from the morning rolled into his mind, the sight of Jungkook and Ryan. Didn't he heal his heart? How did his heart sway seeing them together? Why was his heart betraying him?
