Chapter nineteen: distraction

Lux's POV:

Regina made sure I wasn't by myself during the remaining day of school so Janis didn't have an opportunity to get to me.

Regina intimidated her so much that she actually didn't dare to come near me when Regina was close by. She also stayed away when I was with Karen and Gretchen since she knew they would get Regina immediately.

But even though Janis didn't approach me, I could still feel her eyes on me. It was clear she would continue to watch me and wait for the perfect opportunity to get to me again.

It was scary. Regina pressed me close to her during lunch after she noticed how intimidated I felt from Janis' stare.

It felt strange to sit with Regina again and not with my usual friends but I knew it was for the best, even though I missed sitting with Cady and Damian.

Lunch was always fun with them. It was even a lot of fun with Janis when the four of us were hanging out but that was more of a friendship thing and that was a different case than my relationship with Janis alone.

"Don't look back at her, try to ignore her", Regina whispered into my ear while she held me close and I could see Janis' face darken when she saw how close I was with Regina.

"It's hard, I mean they were all my friends", I said and Regina sighed.

"They aren't anymore. They know about your feelings towards Janis and yet they stay with her. They made their choice but Karen, Gretchen and me are with you now. And we will stay", Regina assured me and even though she tried to provide me comfort, her words actually made me even more sad.

I knew Damian was Janis' hype man so these two always came as a pair but with Cady it was different. She just feared Janis and didn't want to make her mad.

I didn't want to lose my friendship with her completely especially when it would be purely out of fear.

I expected to meet up with Regina after school because of the day she planned but to my surprise, I only saw Karen and Gretchen when I walked out of the building.

"Where is Regina?", I asked confused and Karen giggled.

"She is planning things for your date and she told us to prepare you", Gretchen explained and I raised my eyebrow.

"It's not a date, we just planned to spend the day together", I said and Karen rolled her eyes.

"Whatever, she still wants to make sure that everything is perfect, so we make sure you're ready", Gretchen said and opened the door to her car for me to get in.

"Where will we go?", I ask sceptical.

"To your house silly. We make sure you're not by yourself while Regina is away so Janis won't get any ideas, plus, we need to get you ready for the date", Gretchen explained.

"It's not a date", I repeated.

"Well then we get you ready for Regina, just get in", Karen said and pushed me lightly.

I definitely didn't want to go home by myself with Janis watching me like a hawk so I got in.

Karen and Gretchen seemed so excited during the entire ride and I didn't understand why, I just met up with Regina later on and they probably wouldn't even be with us so why were they so invested?

When we finally arrived at my house, they excitedly followed me to my room and as soon as we were inside, Karen walked towards my closet.

"What are you doing?!", I asked in shock when she opened it.
