A Way Out

On the Run

As Thomas, Aris, and I walked into the room that Thomas had told be about yesterday. I gasped. We saw dozens of bodies, hung up by wires and tubes and monitors attatched. I walked slowly down the row of people and saw a girl with brown hair. "Teresa?" Thomas asked and quickly walked over. When he realized it wasn't her, a sigh of relief was let out of both of us. 

"It's Rachel." Aris said, "They took her the first night. I told her everything was going to be okay." 

I stared at him for moment when we heard the sounds of the doors openeing. We all quickly moved and hid. I was hiding behind one of the metal pillars, Thomas hiding behind the one to the left of me. 

We heard Janson and another guy saying words to eachother talking about someone who wanted to speak with Janson.  Suddenly someone appeared as a hologram and Janson said, "Good evening, Dr. Paige." 

My mouth gaped in shock and I looked at Thomas who looked at me with wide eyes.  

"Lovely to see you again," Janson added, "Although I admit, I.. wasn't expecting to hear from you again so soon."  

"Change of plans Janson," Paige said, "I'll be arriving a little sooner than expected. First thing tomorrow." 

They talked a little and I heard Paige say, "Have you found the right arm?" 

I furrowed my brows and Thomas looked at me and shrugged, "Not yet." Janson said, "We tracked them as far as the mountains." 

"So they're still out there?" Paige asked. 

I looked back at Aris who looked equally as confused. 

"Might I suggest we start with our newest recruits?" Janson asked and my eyes went wide. 

I looked to Thomas and his eyes were also wide and we watched as Janson and the man he was with, leave, and we quickly ran out. We made it back to the vent that led to our room and I tumbled out and Minho quickly helped me up and gave me a quick hug. I shook my head and Thomas said, "We gotta go, we gotta go now!" 

I helped him as he moved things around and everyone questioned him asking what he was talking about. "God dammit I was right shit!" I said and helped him move a dresser to block the door.  

"She's still alive." Thomas said.

"Who's she? Teresa?" Fry asked. 

"WCKD!" Thomas yelled. 

"It's WCKD," I explained, "It's always been WCKD." I raced around trying to do something and Minho grabbed my hand. 

"Kendra." He said. "He cupped my face with both of his hands and said, "What did you see?" 

"Ava I- she is still alive and they are coming for us. They did something to those kids Minho.." I trailed off and he nodded, "Okay," He whispered. 

"We gotta go now." Thomas said. I nodded and we all quickly escaped through the vent. 

We all came out into a hallway and Minho's hand quickly found mine and Aris said, " You guys go ahead there is something I gotta do first." 

 "What are you talking about?" Thomas asked. 

"Do you guys want to get out of here or not?" He asked. We nodded and I said, "I'll go with him." 

"No." Minho said and grabbed my hand. I shook my head, "I will go with him we are all going to the same place." 

He shook his head and cupped my face with his hands and looked at me, "You are not leaving my side." I rolled my eyes, "I can take care of myself Minho."
