Sophie

Sophie groaned as Keefe volunteered her for Two Truths and a Lie.

At least it's not something worse, like Truth or Dare. She thought to herself.

"Alright," Sophie said aloud, trying to come up with her answer. "How about... Oh! I skipped 5 grades as a human, my nickname was Superfreak, and my birthday is on May 31."

"Um..." Keefe said, apparently thinking aloud. "Is the grades one the lie?"

"Anyone else?" Sophie asked.

Linh raised her hand. "The nickname?"

Sophie looked around, and found no one else attempting an answer. So, she replied, "You're both wrong; my birthday is on the 30th, not the 31st." This is a fan made birthday, but the only one with an exact date that I've seen.

"People called you Superfreak?" Fitz asked.

"Yeah." Sophie replied, the memories flowing in. Not good memories.

"Oh," was all Fitz said.

Keefe said, "What?! Why would they do that?"

Sophie sighed, not at Keefe, but at the people from her past. "I was always wearing headphones to drown out the telepathic voices around me, and I always got questions right, with my elvin mind and photographic memory. Like, one time we were on a field trip in a museum. I was listening to music, and my teacher pulled out my headphones and asked me about some sort of dinosaur. I'd seen a plaque about it at the entrance, and got the question exactly correct. Some other kids called me Superfreak, and even the teacher called me a know-it-all. It wasn't fun."

"That's awful." Wylie said.

"Their thoughts were so much worse. The stuff people say is nothing compared to what they think."

"I'm sorry you had to go through that." Keefe said after a second.

"Thanks." Sophie said, then whispered, "So am I."

Everyone was quiet, then Keefe clapped his hands and said, "Alright; next person! Sophie, you pick."

"Dex." Sophie decided.

"Ugh." Dex groaned. He took a minute to pick his answer, then said, "Okay, I have 6 aunts and uncles, I've been kissed once, and my favorite food is Prattles."

Everyone thought for a moment. Then, Fitz finally said, "Don't take this the wrong way, but I think the kiss one is a lie."

Dex kept his face neutral, but Sophie knew the truth. He had been kissed once. The others, besides Keefe, didn't know it.
Most of the group agreed with Fitz, aside from Keefe and Maruca voting on Dex's favorite food and Marella voting on his aunts and uncles.

Dex gave a small smile as he said, "Maruca and Keefe were right. My favorite food isn't Prattles; it's custard bursts." I made that one up; Dex trivia is not easy to come by.

Fitz groaned as Keefe and Maruca high fived. Then, Marella asked, "Well then? Who was it?"

Sophie froze. She wasn't going to ask-

"W-what?" Dex asked, not-so-innocently. Sophie braced herself.

"Who did you kiss?"

There it was. That question.

It wasn't that Sophie was embarrassed to admit that she'd kissed Dex; they both knew they were just friends. She was more worried about two things; one, Fitz knowing and becoming angry. And two, Dex's crush knowing and resenting him for it.
