"Don't you dare keep my sister from coming down here anytime she wants to come down and pay a visit. Equin may be pregnant with your child, but she still has family down here. Who cares about her wellbeing. We worry that you will lose your temper and kill her in a blind rage," Angelina argued.
"I would never do such a thing. I would never dream of hurting Equin in such a way. She is my mate, the mother of my unborn pup, my everything. I won't have you telling her lies to get her to hate me and take my pup away from me. Keep in mind Angelina, Equin is the only reason why the town is safe from being torn apart. You take her away from me, heads will roll. Buildings will crumble until I have her back in my arms where she belongs. Don't underestimate me," Connor growled out.
Gail glanced at Equin, noticing that all the tension between Connor and Angelina wasn't doing her any good. Gail rushed over to Equin pulling her close, so Equin was leaning on her for support. "Come on Equin. Let's get you to a quiet and stress-free place where you can relax."
Connor turned to Gail growling at her for touching Equin. "You won't be taking my mate anywhere away from me. I will be the one to take care of her, once I get her back up to the mountain where she belongs."
"I don't think that will do Equin or the pup any good at the moment. What she needs is to calm down in a quiet place and relax. She won't be able to do that with you being all pissed off with everything that Angelina said, even though it's true. Now, do what is best for my sister and allow her a moment of peace without having to deal with both you and Angelina wanting to rip each other's throats out," Gail snapped back at Connor.
Connor let out another growl, letting Gail know that he wasn't pleased, but knew that if he didn't go through with it, that something would most likely happen which would cause Equin to lose the baby. "Take good care of her. And the moment that she is finally calmed down, I want you to bring her back to me."
"It's not like I have much of a choice. Should something happen to her that I don't return her, you will go even more insane until you have my sister and her pup back in her group, so that way you can control the both of them," Gail snapped before turning her attention to her sister. "Do you think you can make it to the back of the bar?"
"I should be able to," Equin said as Gail helped her walk.
Connor watched as Gail walked with Equin to the back of the bar. Once they were out of sight, Connor turned his heated gaze back to Angelina. "If anything happens to my mate or our pup, I will gladly make you pay. I won't have you make things up to cause her to lose my pup."
"You took advantage of my sister while she was in heat. Had she been in the right state of mind, she wouldn't have agreed to sleep with you willingly. As for that pup growing inside of her, I would never wish anything bad to happen to that pup. That is still my family. And I will love it unconditionally...even if you are the father. I would never hold that against an innocent pup who doesn't have say in who its father is," Angelina snapped at Connor. "Now be a good man for once in your life. Get the hell out of my bar and allow my sister some space. Allow her a chance to enjoy some time with the only remaining family that she's got left."
"That won't happen. She is my mate now, which means I will stay here and wait for her to get better. Then she and I will head back to our home. I will be the one she comes to at the end of the day. I know deep down you are upset that I will be the first person that Equin sees when she wakes up; and the last person she sees when she lays down in my bed, when she goes to sleep," Connor said. "And no, I won't be leaving. My boys and I, we're paying customers. So, be a dear and bring a round of beers to our normal table. And don't keep us waiting too long."
"Do you want anything else to go with your round of beers," Angelina asked, while trying to remain professional.
"When have we ever ordered anything to go on the side of our beers? Never. So, be a good little host and grab our orders and be on your merry little way," Connor said to Angelina.
