BEATRICE IVORY, the girl who lived yet didn't, presents a curious case. How can one live and not live at the same time? The answer lies within that question, so ponder on it again: how does one live and not at the same time?

Beatrice never fully understood herself, and she felt that was unnecessary. However, she wished that others would stop claiming they knew her when they truly didn't, as she believed she was far too complex.

A child who was far too complex, attending a camp filled with others just like her, created a sense of normalcy?

She had never been considered normal; in fact, she found normalcy unlikable. At camp, no one seemed to care about her; after all, she was an unclaimed oddball and felt invisible, lacking family or love. In her mind, a home should be overflowing with warmth, but she believed that Camp Half-Blood was never going to be that for her.

So, she decided to leave!

That's exactly what she did; she said goodbye, declaring no more Beatrice for anyone.

One night, two hours after dawn, she slipped away, unnoticed by most. Well, Luke did notice; he saw her leave.

Though he didn't fully comprehend what he witnessed, her absence the following day and the day after troubled him.

He thought about informing Chiron but doubted it would matter.

A little girl, just eight years old, wandering through the woods, perhaps someone would care enough to search for her.

Maybe her mother would appear out of nowhere and accept her; a dream within a dream within a dream within a dream. However, it wasn't real; if she thought otherwise, she was crazy. In truth, she felt crazy, experiencing cold nights and hunger, existing in a state of almost not alive, living.

Did that answer your question?
