"One day she'll look into your eyes, and she'll ask,
"Do you still love me?"
and even though your heart will be pumping faster at each breath you take to speak, you won't be able to say yes. You'll stare back into her eyes, her eyes that are filled with stars but those stars no longer sparkle, but even though they no longer sparkle the way they used to, you'll still reminiscence at the memories that flow through your mind. You'll remember every detail of her, her beauty, her scent, the taste of her lips against yours, but you still can't say,
"yes.."
as much as you want to save her from the pain of truth, you can't bring yourself to hurt her with a lie, but you also can't let her think it's her fault. You have to let her know that you guys had an amazing chapter, but at one point a chapter has got to end. At one point the ride is going to be over, and although you may be able to ride that ride again, it's never as good as the first time, so maybe a second ride isn't worth it. You have to tell her that sometimes, our tastebuds change just as the seasons do with time, and when time grows older, you can't turn it back because we grow older too, you have to just keep moving forward. It's better to let the time heal the pain and one day re-read our chapter and reminiscence our memories, and remember the love we once shared. You have to save her the guilt and tell her that you don't love her anymore, that it's you and not her. At one time she was your story, and now she's a chapter, that her eyes can no longer spark your life the way they used too, that sometimes it's better to let go then to hold on, and even though it hurts now, time will heal the wound and you'll find another chapter to write in your unfinished book. So as you're sitting there wanting to say yes, the real words will have to be,
"No, I don't love you anymore."
And just remember that even though it'll hurt then, time will heal the wound, and truth will save the guilt. Walk away and savor the memories as long as you live and move on, not hold on, because sometimes you have to remember, it's better to let go, then to hold on to something that's no longer there."
