For generations, those before us have said that fear of the dark is orchestrated only by the monsters blanketed within it. What if I were to say that those monsters also hide within the light as well? Would it be remiss to say just like having a fear of the darkness, is it possible to fear the light? Some would ask "Why would you fear the light? Light is warm and gentle while the darkness is cold and remorseless." In some instances, in the Annals of history, it was those of justice and peace that struck first without reason or remorse. Sure, you can rationalize their onslaught with righteous speeches and joyous marching, but what lies in the under belly of this display of upholding justice? The slaughter of countless men, women, and children, a bloodbath under the razing sun all in the name of order. A wiseman once said "The road to evil is paved with good intentions." Is this what he meant?
With that being said, who is to say that the first monsters we encounter aren't the same ones who are meant to cradle us and bathe us with love and serenity? Dare I say, the same beast that haunts me from underneath my bed is the same man that was there to witness my first steps as an infant? The banshee that howls within the recesses of my mind every day is the same woman that housed me within her womb for nine months. The jackals that laugh and show their fangs could possibly be the other side of the coin known as my two brothers. Monsters do not coerce with just one side my dear friends. Monsters are hired guns that listen to the Whispering Willows and willingly link their soul to it.
Where there is light, darkness must reside and wherever darkness dwells, light will reign. That is the natural order of things, two sides of one coin to balance out the other. Tell me, what do you think would happen if we removed one side from the equation, regardless of whether it be darkness or light? The imbalance would eventually collapse on itself and destroy order! Balance is necessary! True harmony is maintained when both light and darkness are together, and they remain tempered. Upkeep is an essential need for balance to be kept.
We live in a time where an unbalance is creating a rift between reality and fiction. A world where perfection can be portrayed yet never truly obtained. A world where the monsters are more apparent than ever, yet some continue to close their eyes and frolic in the Whispering Willows. I weep for us because we are more lost than found. A slogan once remarked as a form of self-deprecation now seen as a world-wide epidemic. Within the lost year, we have become a shell of our formers selves and have witnessed the rust upon our blade. The branded sword of justice that has been bloodied with generations of hate and unjustified war has reared it's head and proved to us that we have lost our edge. A rusted sword is no use in the art of combat.
But where has the art gone? Deluded by grand gestures of money, fame, and debauchery. Once so pure has now been tainted with the stains of bitterness and delusion. We hear and embrace these vibrations, yet we remain blind within the Whispering Willows for we cannot see the damage truly done to us and our kin. A ceremonial dance around a fire that warms them and strips them of their innocence. A once shining light that was brought into the world has been dimmed by those who are meant to lead the way and help pave a path forward, but I ask yet another question, What Road have we paved?!
Perception is the marque of this world and defines what is right and what is wrong. Eyes can view the actions displayed and ears can hear the words being said, yet our brains can rationalize a scenario through perception and deem it right or wrong. Emotion is a beautiful commodity, to which it can bring out the absolute best and the absolute worst in a person. Such a beautiful commodity that it can dictate over reason and override how a scenario is perceived. Tugged hearts strings strum an enticing vibration that attracts the soul and invokes thought so now I ask you, what piece of art have we produced? What have we put on display for the world to see?
I am just one of few who wish to end this masquerade of heartbreak and the surrendering to temptation. Since the beginning with Adam and Eve the Whispering Willows have held domain in our sprits due to a strummed heart thus changing the perception, in turn the Whispering Willows house us at the cost of our innocence. They bear no brunt of the actions made, yet we continue to listen and drown out the world around us in which every action is met with a reaction. Actions bear fruit and the fruit depending on the action can bear good results or bad consequences. Do we remain blind to the action we have taken? Or better yet, have we become the Whispering Willows themselves, thus becoming the monsters that we once feared?
I ask these questions out of curiosity and of the belief that we are on a path that we must tread carefully. On the precipice of a new era, we must acknowledge our present, learn from the past, and build to the future. Because I fear we are proving the age-old tale of history repeating itself, thus leading us into chaos. An imbalance will be created thus marking the disembowelment of society and morality will forever be lost along with our children's innocence. But of course, we wouldn't want to repeat the cycle and expect a different result, after all that is the hallmark of insanity, is it not?
