Hole In My Chest

I have yet to find the words to describe the feeling I've become so familiar with
Shall I say it's like a punch
Backed with the power of a million warriors?
Or perhaps the emotion is more like the scenery
Soft and warm, and yet you feel the change
Small, subtle, light, gentle
But it's there
A tone, a tender breeze, ice
Ice cold, hard like ice, rough like ice
Painful like ice.
Maybe I could say it's like making eye contact with the deep end
Where you see your limp body lay
It's like seeing a missing piece of you
Only you can't remember what's missing
It's insanity inducing
Could it be this?
Could it be that?
But you'll never really know, because it's missing
And it feels like an exhaustive hole
So maybe what I feel
Is a hole in my chest.
