Jiang Cheng woke up with a horrible headache. When he opened his eyes, he saw that he was no longer in the cell, but in a huge room armed with tools of all kinds. Next to him, Lan Xichen, Lan Wangji and Nie Mingjue were still asleep. He could only vaguely remember how they had all fallen into unconsciousness. Several guards stood nearby, and one of them had a huge dagger in his hand.
-How do we proceed?
-Plenty of cuts, and a mortal wound. That'll be enough to convince everyone.
Jiang Cheng immediately understood what the guards wanted to do and pretended to be unconscious. Since he was the closest, the guard with the dagger approached him first, but just as he was about to inflict a mortal wound, Jiang Cheng grabbed him by the wrist, twisting it as he went, grabbed the dagger and pulled away.
-Damn, he woke up early...
As the guard grumbled, another approached, looking serene.
-Sect leader Jiang, let's face it... We're already outnumbered, and there are other guards outside. And even if you escape, the other captives will be killed. Besides, have you thought about the consequences of your actions? Your nephew is locked up, and the cult leader has no intention of sparing him... What if something happens to him because of your escape, out of pure revenge?
Jiang Cheng grumbled. Even if what he was saying was intended to dissuade Jiang Cheng from doing anything, the guard wasn't wrong. Alone, there was nothing he could do. He was about to think of a solution when the guard who had just spoken took a stone to the face. Stunned, everyone turned towards the entrance, where Wei Wuxian was standing, clearly pleased that his stone had hit someone.
-What you say was true two minutes ago, sir. But now it's dead.
-What...?! How did you get out of the Void?! And how did you get here?!
-The Void was child's play. As for getting in, I admit I had a little help...
-No matter. Capture him!
Two guards threw themselves at Wei Wuxian. However, Jiang Cheng attacked one of them, resulting in a two-on-two battle. Jiang Cheng was naturally agile, and armed too, so defeating his opponents wasn't too difficult. Wei Wuxian, on the other hand, was not accustomed to water, but he had always been good at fighting and had a certain facility for perceiving his opponent's movements. As a result, the two sworn brothers quickly gained the upper hand.
-Hihi," laughed Wei Wuxian, "I never thought the Jin clan would be so weak.
He grabbed a guard from behind and squeezed his neck, trying to suffocate him. Jiang Cheng happened to turn towards him and widened his eyes.
-WARNING!
Behind Wei Wuxian stood a guard armed with a long sword. Wei Wuxian had no time to react and closed his eyes.
But the pain never came.
So he opened his eyes again and looked behind him. The guard had just been stunned by...
-Lan Zhan!
Wei Wuxian let go of the guard he was holding, already quite unconscious, to throw himself into Lan Wangji's arms. Further away, Lan Xichen and Nie Mingjue had also awakened, and the situation quickly settled down. Lan Wangji stroked Wei Wuxian's face, looking worried.
-Wei Ying, are you all right? What happened in the Void?
-Nothing happened.
-Nothing at all?
-Nothing at all.
Lan Wangji looked confused. After all, he'd often been told that the Void was a horrible place full of demonic fish. But he merely sighed.
-Where's Lan Sizhui?
-Out looking for Jin Ling. He'll be back soon.

A guard, looking bored, approached the stone gate and knocked against the wall.
-Hey, it's time to eat.
However, the cell was empty. Confused, the guard opened the door, at which point Jin Ling emerged from his hiding place and threw himself on top of him to choke him. It only took a few seconds for the guard to fall to the ground.
Jin Ling huffed and puffed before rushing down the corridor. However, all the exits he found were guarded, and guards were constantly on patrol. Soon, one of them would notice that Jin Ling had escaped.
It didn't take long: soon, the dungeon was on red alert and surrounded by a panoply of guards. Jin Ling hid in a hole and tried to find an opportunity to leave, but it never came. So he sighed and stayed hidden.
That's when he was grabbed.
One arm held him firmly while the other was pressed against his mouth. Panicking, Jin Ling tried to free himself.
-Jin Ling, don't worry, it's me.
When Jin Ling heard Lan Sizhui's voice, he stopped fidgeting. He turned slowly towards him and stared at him for a while.
-What are you doing here? How did you escape?
-I don't really know... Anyway, I've come to get you out of here.
Jin Ling was speechless for some time. Then he finally came back to reality.
-But how? There are guards everywhere.
-I know, just wait a little.
Jin Ling raised his eyebrows but obeyed, and a few seconds later, a bang was heard. Immediately, the guards moved towards the noise. Lan Sizhui grabbed Jin Ling's wrist and the two of them rushed towards the exit. Even so, two guys were still standing there. As soon as they saw the two teenagers, they pounced on them.
But Jin Ling and Lan Sizhui were far from weak. Two against two, they could win. So they won and left.
