At All Costs

Chapter Eight

The village was decorated with star lanterns and banners. Children ran around with sparklers as they dodged around people who were dancing the celestial dance. Magnifico and Amaya joined in the crowd to dance. Just as the music stopped the sky began to shine bright once again showing the constellations in the sky from the dancers. The crowd applauded the band as the mayor of Stiulla came up on the stage.

"Thank you to my wonderful citizens for their help to put this beautiful festival on every year!," The mayor cheered.

The crowd cheered. Magnifico and Amaya made their way to the front of the crowd as the mayor continued to speak.

"According to our records, the celestial shower will began in fifthteen minutes so if you have a special place you would like to watch it, I recommend you make your way there,"

The crowd started to disperse into different directions including Magnifico and Amaya. They made their way to a cliff that was a few yards outside the village.

After a few minutes, Magnifico and Amaya took a seat on the soft cold grass that was at the peak of the cliff. The sky was clear of any obstructions and the stars were clear and bright. Magnifico felt in his pocket to make sure he still had the ring. It was still there ready to go. Magnifico looked over at Amaya as she was looking into the sky. The amount of emotions that were running through him at the moment caused him to sweat a little. Magnifico took a deep exhale before leaning into Amaya, wrapping his arm around her.

"If happiness was a tangible thing, it would be you," Magnifico sang in his mind.

Amaya continued to look into the sky as Magnifico stared at her.

"If you'd have told me the feeling you'd bring, I'd think it untrue,"

Amaya leaned her head on Magnifico's chest as they continued to wait for the celestial shower to start. Magnifico looked down at Amaya and placed his hand on her head.

"And people search for a wonder like you, all of their lives,
You still amaze after all this time,"

A shooting star shot across the sky, making Amaya rise up from Magnifico's chest. Her face lit up at the sight.

"You pull me in like some kind of wind, Mesmerized by the hold I'm in,
Leave you here, I don't wanna, I wanna,"

More shooting stars began to shoot across the sky one after another. Amaya stood up real quick as she watched the shower. Magnifico stood behind her as he wrapped an arm around her.

"Love you as one does,
I, I will protect you at all costs,
Keep you safe here in my arms,
I, I will protect you at all costs,
At all costs,"

Magnifico took the ring out of his pocket and kneeled down one knee. Amaya noticed he wasn't standing by her anymore and turned around. She looked down at him with a gleam in her eyes. She covered her smiled her hands as she started crying. She was so speechless, she nodded her head "yes".

"Wow, What's pain? When I look at you? No way," Amaya sang in her mind.

Magnifico smiled as he rose back up. He slid the ring onto her finger before giving her a kiss.

"I could explain you, even if I tried to,
I'll never dream like I used to do,
If someone tried to hurt you, I don't
See how that could happen,
I'd fight for you in ways you can't imagine,
Felt this, no I haven't, I hope,
It would be all right to stay right here beside you,"

Magnifico and Amaya began to dance under the light of the celestial shower. Magnifico twirled Amaya around before shooting a sparkly beam in the air, causing sparkles to fall onto them.

"And love you as one does,
I, I will protect you at all costs,
Keep you safe here in my arms,
I, I will protect you at all costs,
At all costs," Magnifico and Amaya sang out loud.

Magnifico and Amaya started running further up the cliff to the top of the hill as they held hands. The ocean crashed against the cliff face below, reflecting the stars as they shot across the sky.

"If you're ever feeling like you're lost,
I'll come find you,
Man all fronts, there's no ocean I won't swim across
To be right by you
And not just once, here and now I swear on my response
I'll remind you,"

Magnifico and Amaya made it to the peak of the hill, grabbing each others hands as they faced each other with a smile on their face.

"And love you as one does,
I, I will protect you at all costs,
Keep you safe here in my arms,
I, I will protect you at all costs,
At all costs,"

Magnifico and Amaya placed their foreheads together. Amaya placed her lips onto Magnifico's as she wrapped her arms around his neck as the celestial shower began to finish for the night.
