The Pieces Come Together: November 12, 2004

Everyone was at a loss for words by what had occurred. We asked Gordon and Bear where they had been, but before they could answer Cranky yelled out.

"You can save questions for later! I can't hold onto Emily for long here!"

We quickly set to work helping the other engines. Thankfully with the help of Cranky it wasn't that hard. However Boco is proving to be a hassle due to him being halfway stuck inside a building. I'll make an update once we get back to Wellsworth, hopefully Cranky will be alright

We've been chatting at Wellsworth for a while and everyone had explained everything. Gordon had been pulling the express when the tripods initially attacked. After he passed Emily he ran all the way to Vicarstown where he hid out for a few days. While there he also saw Fergus's remains laying in the yard. Soon enough Bear rolled through with goods from the mainland. Gordon managed to stop him before he went too far into the island. Initially Bear didn't believe him, but after seeing Fergus he quickly changed his attitude. After another day they saw Bertie roll in with a bunch of people, while included my family and Sir Topham Hatt. Gordon and Bear were estatic to see Topham, but their joy would come to an abrupt end as a tripod had found them. They did what they could to fight it, but without any proper weaponry they couldn't do much. Bear went in to attack a leg, which had been resting on the rails, but was instead met with being thrown off the line onto his side. Gordon backed further into the shed till he reached the buffers. He was helpless as he watched people being picked up by the massive machine and soon claws began to reach into the shed for the few stragglers who managed to hide within. Just before they grabbed Gordon an explosion echoed from outside. The tripod fumbled as more gunfire was heard. Soon the thing fell to the ground and a creature crawled out. Gordon then lunged from the shed and ran the creature over. When he looked up he was shocked to see a large group of soldiers who had been sent to help evacuation efforts. Bertie then rolled out of hiding band took the few civilians who had survived the attack off to the mainland. They then got to work re-railing Bear and made their way off. As they passed through Wellsworth they found James and Percy and once they heard about our plan to attack Brendam they knew we would be in trouble and raced down the branch. Edward was at Wellsworth with a passenger train. While he waited Toby, who was on his way to Crovan's Gate for an inspection, pulled up. As they chatted a tripod arose from the ground. Toby yelled for Edward to run and Edward bolted down the branch. As he did a crack pin in his side rod snapped causing it to launch into his side mangling it up. However this didn't stop him till he reached Brendam where he met Neville. Neville knew Edward would be in danger and hid him with in the remains of the old clay pits. Douglas had been pulling a goods train from Crovan's Gate when the tripods emerged. He quickly reversed back down the line and hid at the Wharf where he met Sir Handel. After a few hours Douglas ventured off down the line. I guess Emily didn't notice him. He eventually found Toby at Wellsworth mumbling to himself. They stuck together for a few days till Toby told him how he saw Donald heading towards Brendam. As sick. As he this he dashed down the branch and searched Brendam for his twin. All he did find was a tripod attacking the SCC twins, Salty, and Neville. He hid in the clay pits where he found Edward. They stuck it out for a while before finally moving out where they found Salty sitting beside Cranky. They stayed put for a few days till they were attacked by the tripod who attacked Wellsworth yesterday. It knocked Edward onto his side before disappearing into the darkness. That was when we showed up.

After a while of talking we decided we would set off tomorrow once everyone gained their strength back. From what Gordon and Bear have told us, thr tripod that attacked Crovan's Gate may still be there so we're most likely going to have to fight it off. Plus the fact there may be a tripod at Vicarstown so tomorrow's going to be hell. We've decided that Henry, Gordon, and James are going to go upfront since they work best together. Donald and Douglas will loop around back and attack from behind. We will then be followed by Boco and Bear who will be carrying all the weapons and soldiers while Emily and Percy will head to the nearby town to collect survivors. Edward is too damaged to do anything so he'll stay outside of Crovan's Gate with Salty. We're getting off this island tomorrow and nothing is going to stop us.
