It's been two days.

Two days already?

Hongjoong looks at the map in front of him, incapable of focusing on the task at hand.

It's been two days since he's had that conversation with Seonghwa, and yet, nothing much happened. They've been staying next to that island for those two days, both of their crews, even though his shouldn't even be considered a crew, have been introduced to each other and easily became friends. The guy with the jawline was introduced as San and the red haired one as Yunho. Mingi and Yunho instantly got along and has been doing their tasks with each other ever since then, basically inseparable.

Even though both of their crews were hitting it off well, Hongjoong and Seonghwa still haven't said a word to each other ever since that conversation in Seonghwa's quarters. They've met eyes a couple of times but both instantly looking away as soon as they do. Hongjoong has figured it was to give him space but he doesn't really like that theory. Hongjoong mentioned to Seonghwa he wanted to go slow but this feels like they're back to square one. Like back in the days when they first met.

Hongjoong remembers those days well. Seonghwa was a shy artist with the dream of painting the world and Hongjoong the captain of the feared Black pirates. Seonghwa was working in his grandfathers shop and he was offering cheap paintings without his grandfather knowing. His family was against art, it was seen as a useless talent. He remembers hearing an argument once, his grandfather yelling at him about how art isn't gonna give him anything good in life, that he's never gonna be financially stable enough to live this artsy life he fancies. The next thing Hongjoong knew is that he was face to face with Seonghwa running out of the shop with a bag of his belongings and a canvas, tears in his eyes and a dream on his mind.

It wasn't the first time he met Seonghwa, he's been offered a portrait when he went to this shop for the first time and Hongjoong basically fell in love with his smile and his bright dreamy eyes. His cold rough hands touching warm soft paint covered ones as he was offered a painting of himself for only a couple wons, leaving a small trace of red and yellow paint on his hand as he walked back to his boat with a warm feeling in his chest. That paint slowly reached his heart in a matter of days without him even realizing.

As those teary eyes were looking at him back then, Hongjoong couldn't stop himself from offering his quarters for the night. Hongjoong gave him his bed and the captain was sleeping on a chair with pillows in the corner of his room. His crew was surprised that the scary captain of the Black Pirates was giving his own bed to an artist who has no experience with the sea.
