As I give my finger to the peacekeeper so he can get my fingerprint which is put in records that I attended the reaping. I walk to the group that has the males and wait until the reaping starts. As a lady that has huge amounts of makeup comes on stage, I know she's from the Capital. District 12 is far too poor to have a person with elegant clothes, a wig and makeup. I have heard from gossipers that the lady's name is Effie Trinket. It even sounds like a Capitol name! After she comes up and announces the usual, Effie says "Ladies first!" I have heard that she has announced a girl that I truly do not know. Her name is Primrose Everdeen. Everdeen. That's the last name of the girl I've seen at school. As I stop thinking about I heard a familiar scream. "PRIM!" "PRIM!" The voice cries. I look around to see the girl I seen at school, screaming. I think her name is Katniss. I keep looking to see Katniss passing the two peacekeepers and she says "I volunteer as tribute!". As far as the 16 years I've lived in District 12, I know she's the first volunteer in District 12 history. When I see her come up on the stage I fully see her outfit. A elegant braided bun hairstyle, a soft blue dress and black flats, I think that she looks better than me. All I have on is a white button up top and khakis. When Effie calls out my name for the boys. I am dumbfounded. As I go up on the stage and shake hands with Katniss, I see that day in her eyes, when we were 11 and I gave her bread before her and her family dies of starvation. Before I know it, we are escorted into the justice building.
