September 21st 2032. It was a cold chilly afternoon, I sat around with all the people in hazmat suits, I was the only one who seemed to have any sense of color in this dull place. The wind felt as if it had cold needles in it, poking your skin as it blew against you. Looking around, the only colors I could see were yellow, black, and a mixture of gray's my eyes seemed to blend due to them watering in the cold. I looked around bored, and it seemed in the distance that there were some sort of colors, progressively getting closer. Part of me just thought it was my mind playing tricks on me, I turned away for a moment distracting myself from what I thought was false hope.
Turning away, I felt a light tap to my shoulder a few seconds later. I turned around to see myself facing a group, larger than I had seen in a long time.
"What's your name?" One of the people asked me, they had a soft masculine tone. Their hair was a bit shaggy and had a dark, coal black color.
"Corey." I responded. I was trying to keep myself together, I didn't want the strangers to think I was gullible to anything bad they might be up to.
"Hello Corey! For some reason, you're like the only person who has color other than those...hazmat people." He took a breath in between his words. As if he knew that the people in hazmat suits were up to something I wasn't aware of.
"Anyway! Wanna join us? My name is Stale!" he said, seeming as if he was so excited to see me, a stranger he had never seen in his life. Confused, I asked;
"Join? join what?"
The stranger replied politely,
"Our group..we are kinda on our way to save humanity, and probably lose but. who cares!"
Being here too long, bored, with all these colors a-blurred, l agreed. And what seemed to be seconds later, we were off. We walked around in the chilly-needle poking breeze, looking for a way to escape this place with no color. The person who seemed to be leading the group, pointed out a ladder. The group all agreed that we would climb up the ladder to see what it could lead to. I watched as each group member climbed the ladder one after another. Climbing up the ladder we heard shuffling from below, we glance down to notice the people in hazmat suits, aiming their guns at us. Startled and caught off guard, we all hid. Gunshots fire as we ran to find somewhere to hide. Hiding to save my life, I notice Stale get shot, and crawl for his life too. To make matters worse, the violence increased dramatically. Tentacles arose from the ground, sharpening and slicing the people in hazmat suits in two. Ive never seen this before in my life, I've only heard old folks talk about the "tentacle tales" when i was young. I watched from my hiding spot, a strange looking woman come out from the tentacles and start eating the men's body's. She was surprisingly tall, with short red hair, she had looked like she had came out of candy land. Another girl came out of nowhere, she was much shorter than the red lady, she was wearing a long cardigan with black shorts, and a white mask with no mouth.
"Somebody lets their mom get them dressed in the morning.." I mumbled to myself. The two women looked like they were talking, one looked much happier than the other. Curious, we kept watching. They continued to talk, out of nowhere, the candy land lady grabbed a leg off of one of the hazmat suited men, broke it in half, and threw it over to us.
"How did she know we were here, she didn't even look this way?" I muttered to myself. I looked around at everybody in the group, they were watching almost as if they were brainwashed. I looked at where they were to see the woman in red using her tentacle to smash all of the skulls of the hazmat suited men.
"Like watermelon!" She said joyfully. I pondered, why was she so happy to kill people? Then, my mind hit me like a brick. This person had to be from the Ringed. I watch as one of the people from the group fight, like they have fought this person every day of their life. The candy land woman seems to have him in a hold, about to kill him when the small woman stops her, i question, if she is working with the red haired woman then why stop her? The candy land woman knocks the masked woman out of her way, dropping the man she had been holding and going back for him once again. He cuts off the tentacles as she rushes them at him. The group battle out for a few minutes, which feels like forever in my pretty obvious hiding spot, but I managed. It was too early for me to fight, I wasn't ready yet, and the only thing I had on me was a journal and a fountain pen. After a few moments that felt like forever, the candy land woman was defeated, one of her men from the group grab her body and we all run off in a scurry. Once we get somewhat away from where we were fighting, we all stop to catch our breaths. We all sit down for a moment, huffing and puffing. There was a few moments of silence, looking around at everybody I realized I knew nobody's names but Stale's.
"So, it kinda seems unfair that you guys know my name but I don't know yours, mind to tell me?" I asked.
"Oh yea! How rude of us! Guys, tell Corey your names, you know me already!" Stale said politely.
"I'm Itch!" Said the man sitting down beside me, he looked drowsy, he as sitting criss-crossed, rocking back in fourth. He was holding a half-drank bottle of beer. I got carried away, thinking about would it be half-drank, half dranken, or half drunken?
"Hellllloooo?" He asked sassily. I smiled a bit, but coming to realize I was smiling, I stopped embarrassed a bit.
"I'm Heath, thats pepper, shes nine, and thats Scythe.." Said Heath.I scoffed.
"A child, on our way to save humanity, is this a joke?" I groaned to Stale and Heath.
"Don't talk about my fucking daughter that way." Scythe said, very seriously. He clearly wasn't joking this about kid. Ive always hated children, even when I was a kid, the thought of other germs grubby kids disgusted me. Though, Scythe seemed much more muscular than me, so instead of trying to get my ass beat, I switched the conversation to a question I had earlier.
"So...What's with the Candy land woman's body?.."
"That's U_LL. Thank the lord we don't need to worry about her anymore." I seen Stale had a sigh of relief.
"But, why are we carrying it with us?"
"We need to make a memorial of course!" Said Scythe, but something seemed off about the way he said it.
