As soon as I hear the honk of Ci's purple and white PT Cruiser that she's had since we were sixteen, I leave my parent's old house and lock up behind me before I walk to her car that's parked in my driveway. She's blasting Fantasy by Mariah Carey and singing to me at the top of her lungs, goofily, with her sunglasses on. I grin and shake my head while I put on my sunglasses and stride over to the passenger's side and get in.
"Good morning, sexy mama!" Ci says to me and we exchange a kiss on the cheek. "I'll show you a good morning, hot stuff." I say with a light chuckle. No wonder our family and friends always thought we were lesbians. Not that that ever stopped us from being gay as all hell together for no reason at all.       "Drink your coffee, we got a big day ahead of us!" She says pointing to her cup holder in front of the middle console of her car as she types in the city we're going to today in her gps. I should have known she'd stop by Starbucks to get our favorite orders before an outing. I pick up the iced white chocolate mocha and take a swig and let out a way too sexual moan as I swallow."Appreciate the orgasm, Ci." I say with a laugh and she cackles. "Always a pleasure. Now... how are you feeling?" She asks the million dollar question.
With a sigh, I set my coffee back in the cup holder, "Tired... I don't know how to exist in a world where mama and daddy don't." I answer her truthfully, as always. She looks at me with a sympathetic and solemn smile "I know, babe... the pain won't really ever ease.. but slowly you'll learn how to build your life around the grief. There will still be rainbows after the storms..." she says grabbing my hand and giving it a gentle and loving squeeze. God, what the hell would I do without her?
With that, she put her car in reverse and we embark on one of our adventures. I feel better in her presence. I draw strength from her spirit. I thank God he put her in my path. My soul sister.
