The Antidote (Finale)

"We did it!" Said Alex excitedly. "Yeah!!! Take that, Darcy!" Cheered Justin. "One problem down, one more to go." Said Max. "Wait, where'd Amanda go?" Justin asked. "That's strange, wasn't she right here?" Max asked. "She's over there, fellas." Alex said.

The middle Russo points to where Amanda is standing at a faraway distance. Though she's glad the villain responsible for leaving the poison in her's and Paul's room is gone, she still felt haunted by when Paul sacrificed his life to drink it.

As a tear falls from her eye, the swan princess sadly sings to herself.

Alex catches up with Amanda and puts her hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry, Amanda, we'll get started on that antidote and save Paul once we return." Said Alex. "It's not that I'm worried about." Said Amanda. "No?" Alex asked. "I still can't believe he sacrificed himself by drinking that poison." Amanda said. "It's like he said before he succumbed to it, he saved you." Said Alex. "I know, Alex." Said Amanda.

"Did something like that ever happen in Chamberg?" Alex asked. "Well... Derek took a poison dart for Odette once." Amanda said. "Wait, I think I remember hearing that. When was this?" Asked Alex. "Definitely before I met you and your brothers, that's for sure." Said Amanda.

The middle Russo lets out a giggle. "Still, what happened when Derek took that dart for Odette?" She asked. "It was shortly after we took Alise in, and she got captured by flying squirrels known as the Scullions. They targeted Odette and planned to destroy her after the fake legend about an evil swan princess was made. Mangler, the Scullions leader, aimed his blow straw at Odette and was gonna shoot her with a poison dart. Derek saw what was happening and pushed Odette out of the way. That's when he got hit." Amanda said. "Dang! I sure would love to hear the whole story someday." Alex said.

Amanda pats her friend on her back. "You will, but let's focus on our current task." She said. "Right, we better get back." Said Alex. The four adventurers make their way back to the apartment and meet in Alex's room to make an antidote for Paul. It took about five minutes to finish.

Once the antidote was ready, everyone heads over to Amanda's room, where Wonder Woman was waiting for them. "Any luck finding the person responsible for leaving the poison?" She asked. "Yep, and we took care of her." Alex said. "Her?" Asked Wonder Woman. "Uh-huh. It was a woman, and her name was Darcy." Said Justin. "Her motive, she wanted revenge after Pandora's defeat." Said Max. "Pandora was someone we dealt with just recently." Said Alex.

"I don't wanna think about that day, but I'll only say it once." Said Amanda. "I'm listening." Wonder Woman said. "Pandora's mission was to destroy me and my family." Amanda said. "Great Gaia!" Cried Wonder Woman. "And it was said only the swan princess can defeat her, but a sacrifice had to be made. So Odette stayed behind to fight Pandora." Said Amanda.

A concerned expression appeared on Wonder Woman's face. "Must've been hard." She said. "Especially for Derek, he begged her not to do it. But the prophecy said if the swan princess fails to defeat Pandora, her family members would die along with her." Amanda said. "I'm sorry you had to go through that." Wonder Woman said. "Don't be. Pandora already met her end, and all my family members are still in one piece." Said Amanda.

But the swan princess's smile became a frown after looking down at her husband, who's still completely motionless. "I think it's time, don't you?" Max asked. Amanda slowly nods. Justin hands her the antidote, then she looks back at her friends, who give her a nod.

With a deep breath, Amanda pours the antidote into Paul's mouth. A few minutes pass, but nothing happens. "I don't get it. Why isn't our potion working? We used the same formula!" Alex said. "Maybe this is a different kind of poison that requires a certain antidote." Justin said. "I didn't see anything on the bottle." Amanda said.

Wonder Woman puts a comforting hand on the swan princess's shoulder. "We'll think of something." Said Wonder Woman. Amanda's eyes fill with tears, she drops to her bed's level and leans her head on Paul's chest while wrapping her arms around him. "I'm so sorry, sweetheart." She said through a whisper.

As Amanda cries softly, she plants a gentle kiss on Paul's lips then leans on his chest again. A minute later, Amanda feels her hair getting stroked. She looks down at Paul and notices his eyes have opened. Amanda smiles as Paul sits up and the two embrace.

"It worked after all!" Said Alex with a smile. "Some potions take a while to work, and that's what this one did." Said Justin. "Then again, Paul did drink a lot more poison than he did last time." Said Max.

Amanda looks over at Wonder Woman after embracing her husband. "Thanks for watching him while we were trying to find who left the poison." She said. "No problem. How do you feel, Paul?" Wonder Woman asked. "Much better, thank you." Said Paul. "You'll be more relieved to hear the poison actually wasn't meant for you." Said Amanda. "It wasn't?" Paul asked. "It was for me." Amanda said.

Paul gasps. "Who would do such a thing?" He asked worriedly. "Darcy, the villain responsible, wanted revenge after Pandora's defeat. The two were friends, apparently." Said Amanda. "Oh dear." Said Paul. "Hey, if you hadn't jumped in front of me, I already would've been done for." Amanda said. "Good point." Paul said.

"Thanks again for coming when we needed you, Wonder Woman." Said Amanda. "I'm always here to help. Call again if you need me and the others." Said Wonder Woman. The amazonian princess exits the apartment and flies off.

Now that the poison bit was out of the way, no other bottles of the lethal drink ever came out of random again.
