JUST IN TIME, eliana's mom came running inside of the house. "ELIANA!" her mom called out to her, eliana rushing down the stairs.
eliana didn't say anything and just pulled her mom into a hug. "i'm so glad you're safe honey." she realized she still had the note in her hand.
"the person left this on my bed, mom." eliana handed the note to her mom, kathy opening it up right away. she looked to her with pure fear in her eyes.
"is anyone else here?" eliana's mom said to her, reaching into her purse for her phone. she nodded her head and pointed up the stairs.
"tell everyone to get down here." kathy instructed and eliana immediately did as she was told.
everyone gathered into the living room, waiting to hear what kathy had to say. she was too engulfed in her conversation on the phone.
"okay so i just got off of the phone with your aunt. you're going to have to go stay with her until we can catch the person who broke in and left this note. i'm bringing this to the police." eliana's mom came further into the living room and looked at everyone's face.
she noticed how everyone's faces dropped into frowns. "im sorry guys but this is to keep eliana safe. she hopefully won't be there for long but this needs to happen. you're leaving in the morning."
everyone had tears filling their eyes. eliana didn't want to leave again and no one wanted her to leave either. despite leaving in the morning, all of them decided to have a sleepover.
the next morning rolled around fast and eliana was grabbing her bag from her room, everyone waiting for her at the front door.
"i love you guys. it isn't going to be like last time. i will keep in touch with every single one of you. i'll be back soon." eliana tried her best to keep their spirits up, despite their current situation.
and with that, eliana got into her aunt's car and drove away. also, with heavy hearts, everyone else went their separate ways and went home.
a week later, eliana had kept her promise and stayed in touch with everyone. the only person she didn't text with as much was chris. she had been facetiming with nick and matt and texting with alahna and madi.
everytime she reached out to chris, she was either left on read or there was hours before he'd respond. of course eliana knew the pain wouldn't go away quickly so she didn't blame him.
she can't say she wasn't hurt about the situation but she expected this. she knew it wasn't going to go back to the way it was.
when she saw chris again, the love eliana had for him was still there. she never fell out of love with him, ironically, she loved him even more now than ever before.
eliana thought to herself, that no matter the situation she was in, chris was it for her. there wasn't anyone ever like chris who had treated her so well and loved her in a way that was endearing to her.
he never expected her to be perfect, she just had to be herself. for all of her other relationships before chris, there was always an expectation to be perfect. she always had to dress a certain way or act a certain way, with chris, there was never any of that.
since being childhood friends, eliana knew everything about chris. the things he didn't like, the things he did like, his adventurous side, his crazy personality and even his commitment issues.
eliana knew he had problems with having a girlfriend. he was scared to be vulnerable and he was scared to be hurt. eliana always said to him that she would never hurt him but sometimes, people can change.
she didn't intentionally hurt chris, she would have stayed and dropped everything to be with him but in order to be safe, she had no other option than to leave.
it was equally devastating on both sides. eliana had cried for months before getting herself together and praying each night she'd have the chance to go back to boston again.
