Bluestar pov
Bluestar growled softly to herself. Tensions between Thunderclan and Riverclan were getting worse by the day, and she couldn't help but feel so out of control.. They had already lost so many warriors over sunningrocks. Maybe if Oakheart was still deputy.. or even became leader... only if.. Bluestar shook her head. It was pointless wishing and wondering what if... Crookedstar was leader and he was determined to take over sunningrocks, just like how Bluestar was determined to defend her territory with her life. It was just the way of clans, she had to keep reminding herself that.
A stroll in the forest always calmed her nerves, so why did she feel so.... disturbed? On edge? She shook her fur out against the cool night air as she continued to pad through the woods. She froze when she heard a twig snap and opened her mouth, glancing warily around the forest. Shadowclan! A growl rose in her throat and her hackles rose. "Who's there!?" She snarled. The forest was quiet once more, but only for a moment. After a moment's pause, a ruffled and ragged brown tabby emerged from the bushes. It was none other than Shadowclan's leader, Brokenstar... "What are you doing here??" Bluestar snapped.
Brokenstar eyed her with a mixed expression. He looked annoyed but at the same time... happy? His tail swished as he took a few paw steps closer. Bluestar couldn't help but notice how his dirt brown pelt shone as he stepped into a patch of moonlight that was filtered through the trees. "I have... a proposition for you Bluestar.." He started, his mew gruff yet soothing at the same time.
Bluestar's ear flicked. "A proposition..? What are you mouse brained? Do you really think-"
"Just hear me out... please.." Brokenstar mewed again, his voice almost pleading. Bluestar stared at him for a moment longer before giving him a slight nod to continue. "I've heard about your trouble with Riverclan... so I was wondering if you would like Shadowclan to lend a paw."
Bluestar's fur ruffled at the sound of that. She didn't like that he knew one of Thunderclan's weaknesses. "We don't need any help." She mewed curtly.
"I know you don't need it, but it would at least be helpful, no?"
"Ugh.." Bluestar's ears remained flat. He did kind of have a point... but still... "What are you trying to get out of this." She grumbled.
Brokenstar blinked. "Well, it's a rather odd request.."
"Go on..."
Brokenstar paused for a moment, looking deep in thought. Then he took a deep breath. "I'm taking a big risk just telling you this... I hope that it shows my dedication..." Bluestar tilted her head and gave him a puzzled look. He then continued after another moment's hesitance. "Bluestar I... I've been in love with you for a long time and.. I-I would like it if we could.. get together..?" He gazed at her hopefully.
Bluestar's eyes widened as his confession settled in. " WHAT!?? But...! We've hardly spoken to each other outside of gatherings!!" She yelped.
"I know.. but everytime I sit next to you on the Great Rock my heart starts to race... and not because of all the cats I'm about to address. It's because of you.." Bluestar's pelt tingled and she felt her face grow hot. She hadn't felt this way in a very very long time... not since- no. She shouldn't dwell on him any longer. She can't think anymore about this forbidden love.. "Brokenstar... we'd be betraying our clans." She shook her head. "Forbidden love just.. causes too many problems... and heartache...."
Brokenstar placed a paw on hers. "I know. But... don't you at least want to get to know each other better? Beyond monthly gatherings.."
Bluestar felt herself blush and before she could even consider a response the words just came out anyway. "I'll think about it.." She mewed softly, giving a shy glance towards Brokenstar and realizing just how handsome of a tom cat he was. Even his tail that resembled a broken tail added to his charm.
Brokenstar smiled slightly. "Alright, just let me know.." And without another word, he padded back into the brush in the direction of his own home.
Bluestar stood there, starstruck as she continued to gaze at where Brokenstar once stood. Her heart skipped with a feeling she hadn't felt in so long... joy. He had completely taken her breath away.. and she couldn't wait to see him again.
