Brokenstar pov
Brokenstar slunk through the darkening marshy forest. His eyes darted side to side before he quickly crossed the rough thunderpath. He just couldn't wait to see Bluestar again! It had been about a moon after his escapade to Thunderclan territory to confess to the lovely silver-blue she-cat, and thankfully it had gone as smoothly as he had hoped. It took a moon of convincing, but it was finally worth it when Bluestar pulled him aside from the Gathering and asked to meet him at the Ancient Oak.
As he strolled through Thunderclan territory once more he could hardly think about being cautious. Finally! He'll be able to see the love of his life!! He soon neared the tree deemed the Ancient Oak and glanced around, wondering if Bluestar had arrived yet.
"You came.." Brokenstar whirled around only to see Bluestar watching him with surprised ocean eyes. The she-cat's pelt glistened in the moonlight, radiating a beautiful silver.
"Of course I did!" He purred. "Did you really think I was lying about all those things I said about you?"
Bluestar chuckled lightly, "I mean, we are from rival clans.. I thought you were just trying to trick me." Her eyes then soften with concern. "Are the things I hear about you... are they true?"
Brokenstar shuffled his paws uncomfortably. "What things exactly...?"
"Well.." she seemed to hesitate for a second before going on, "The things about our clan.. are you really training apprentices as young as 3 moons..?"
Brokenstar held her gaze for a moment before looking slightly away. "Shadowclan kits are strong, they can handle it."
"But it's against the warrior code!" Bluestar exclaimed.
"And we're here right now, aren't we?" Brokenstar retorted.
Bluestar fell silent, considering what he said. "Yeah but... it's dangerous for such tiny kits to be sent into battle.." Her eyes glistened with sorrow. "You shouldn't make them apprentices and warriors so young... they're not ready."
Brokenstar felt his heart soften at the sound of Bluestar's pleading. She was concerned about his apprentices, and they weren't even her own clanmates but from a rival clan! That's when Brokenstar realized she wasn't just beautiful on the outside, but the inside too.
"I.. it's only to help Shadowclan grow stronger..?" He stammered, trying to justify his current practice. Bluestar just shook her head, having a sad and disappointed look on her face that pierced Brokenstar with a guilt he had never felt before. "Look I'll uh.. I'll stop doing it then.. maybe you're right.."
Bluestar's eyes brightened. "You will..?"
"Yeah.." Brokenstar was caught off guard as Bluestar rubbed her flank along his, purring.
"Thank you.." She mewed softly.
Brokenstar's pelt warmed and his heart felt like it was going to leap out of his chest. Just this small promise made her happy? He purred back and wrapped his tail around hers. "Anything for you darling." He noticed Bluestar blushing at the name 'darling' and smiled. She must like it.
