OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS, eliana slowly got back to normal. she was on her way to pick up nick and madi from the mall. it was a fairly rainy day which she didn't expect. it was supposed to be just cloudy all day.
she was driving in the highway, listening to music when all of a sudden she sees a car coming up quickly next to her.
eliana tried to slow down to let the car pass her but due to the rain, the other car hydroplaned into her car causing her car to flip over. before she could react, everything went black.
NICK AND MADI WERE WAITING FOR ELIANA, when nick received a call from his mom. "hey mom what's up?"
"nick are you still at the mall?" marylou asked frantically on the other line.
"yes im with madi, we're waiting for ellie to pick us up." nick replied.
"im coming to get you guys. eliana isn't going to make it there." marylou decided not to tell them on the phone and instead wait until they were in the car.
"um okay we'll wait outside." nick hung up the phone.
"what was that about?" madi looked at nick curiously while nick had a worried expression across his face.
"my mom is coming to get us. i don't know why though, she said ellie isn't going to make it here." nick and madi shrugged their shoulders and figured it was nothing.
after 20 minutes, marylou pulled up to nick and madi waiting outside. "so why did you come get us?" nick asked his mom who was on the verge of tears.
"eliana got into a really bad accident, she's in the hospital. we have to go get your brothers from nate's."
nick and madi sat there in shock until the news settled in. they had just gotten eliana back into their lives and it felt like one thing after another was ripping her apart from them.
they couldn't help but feel bad for her. she had gone through so much in the past couple years and it felt she could never catch a break.
marylou pulled up to nate's house, instructing nick to go get them. nick did as he was told and got out of the car.
"hey guys, matt and chris we need to go." nick said, his voice trembling.
"uh why? mom said we didn't have to be until later." chris said, a hint of annoyance in his voice that nick was here trying to drag them home.
"it's serious let's go." at this point, nick was annoyed with his brothers. he didn't feel like explaining right then and there.
matt and chris said bye to nate and walked out of the house. they both expected to be met with eliana since she was picking nick and madi up but instead it was their mother.
as soon as the boys got buckled into the car, marylou stepped on the gas. matt and chris looked around at the somber faces and could only wonder what happened.
the car pulled up to the hospital and everyone got out.
"what the hell are we doing here?" matt asked, looking at the others for answers. he was growing annoyed because no one spoke up, everyone was rushing in the doors.
once they got in there and spotted eliana's mom, they automatically knew who was here. marylou rushed over to kathy, pulling her into a tight hug. eliana's mom couldn't keep it together.
"mom what is going on?" matt asking once again.
"im sorry but eliana was in a really bad car accident. she was on her way to get nick and madi when a car was speeding and hydroplaned right into the side of her car. the car was flipped twice." kathy spoke up.
everyone broke down into tears, chris feeling the worst. he had been pushing her away since she arrived and he felt awful. he thought it was the right thing to do for himself but now he just feels guilty.
"i'm sorry. if we never asked her to pick us up, she wouldn't be in this situation." nick said, feeling all of the blame should be put on him.
"no, it's not either of your faults. she wanted to come get you guys. it's the other drivers fault. please do not blame yourselves, you know that's not what she would want." kathy said, sympathetically.
"can we go see her?" kathy nodded at madi's question.
the triplets and madi walked in to eliana's hospital room and the sight of her only broke their hearts even more.
