"Hey, did you hear that?"
"Yeah, I did."
"You know what I'm talking about."
"Fuck Tha Show Biz!"
Baesangwook chuckled as he heard his crewmates chatting during break time. Those rappers are so simple-minded. Just a while ago, they were the kind of people who talked nonsense."Is there any news from the Show Business Company?"
"Well, someone posted something on the Show Biz website. They're demanding the release of the recordings. But there's been no response.""Then maybe what that guy said is true."
"Well, leaving that aside, damn, his rap is good."
"It's like foreign rap."
"Yeah, it's so natural. Something... different."
Baesangwook agreed with his crewmates, Uyeonwoo and Yeom Hyeon-pil. Sanghyun's rap is natural. It feels like he's speaking what he wants to say in the form of rap, rather than forcing himself to rap.
After that, Uyeonwoo and Hyeon-pil discussed their views on "Fuck Tha Show Biz" for a while.
"But I don't understand the last line. 'Succeeding you, father?' What does that mean?"
"Huh? You don't know that?"
Listening quietly to Hyeon-pil's question, Baesangwook also pushed his head forward, curious about the part.
"What's that? I was curious too."
"Wow, that's a really chilling part. Do you guys know Blizzard?"
"Who doesn't know Blizzard?"
Blizzard is famous for creating backstories for their games that rival any epic novel. They also use these backstories to create a story mode called 'campaign' in their games, and produce videos using CG. Anyone who's played StarCraft would know.
In the United States and Europe, there are many Blizzard story enthusiasts, and in Warcraft 3, "Succeeding You, Father" is one of the most famous lines. When the prince, Arthas, stabs his father, King Terenas II, he asks in a dying voice:
"What are you doing, my son!"
To which Arthas calmly responds:
"Succeeding you, father."
So, this lyric signifies the rapper's intention to inherit the noise marketing initiated by the Show Business Company through this diss track while also implying the intention to kill off the Show Biz. It also mocks Show Biz by labeling it as the 'king of noise marketing'.
"So, they're not denying that their diss track will become noise marketing, right?"
"Rather than that, isn't it a more proactive declaration? It's saying they'll kill Show Biz with their skills and inherit the benefits of noise marketing."
"Wow... I'd love to see him perform on stage once. There must be a lot of unreleased tracks."
"Yeah, that would be fun."
"Right? But it might be hard to see since we're in Gwangju."
"It'd be faster for us to go to Gwangju for the performance. How long would it take to get there? About ten hours?"
"Are you crazy? It doesn't even take five hours to get to Busan. Is this the United States?"
When Uyeonwoo and Hyeon-pil exchanged words while looking at Baesangwook, he burst into laughter.
"What are you guys talking about?"
"Huh? What?"
"Did you guys write it? To include 888 in the lineup?"
