A man was sitting snugly in his recliner in the dark, the room around him lit with a candle. He was reading a book, caressing it as if it would dissipate the moment he even slightly clenched his fingers. His name was Herman Carter, a retired psychologist and student at a now shut down Academy. He was also a labelled mad man by what community surrounded him, all because he was incredibly interested in the formation and biology of Grimm to what is probably an obsessive degree, and how electricity could be used against them
Right now, he was reading one of the oldest records of Grimm interaction with humanity, going back almost 40 years. He read the mildly faded paragraphs methodically, until he had gone through the short piece of literature. He sighed in frustration; he felt he was so close to figuring out what attracted Grimm to negative emotions, but couldn't. Like a child trying to fit a ball into a slightly too small pipe.
He got up from his lounge and put the book away. He hovered his hand over one last book, a non-fictional story about how the academy he worked at got condemned, written by the principal before he vanished. Otto was hesitant to visit those memories, but grabbed the book and went back to his lounger. He opened the book and revisited memories he wished he had left alone.
---Lery's Memorial Academy, 1992---
Dr. Stamper was in his classroom, crates of dust and grimm mist was in the corners of the room while he was standing in front of a surgical table with his favourite student, a young Herman Carter. Herman was a social outcast purely cause of his strange disposition and his volatile semblance scaring others, while Stamper saw potential in him. They were both looking over a tranquillized Beowolf, Stamper pointing out details on the specimen while Herman wrote notes excitedly, laughing to himself quietly at some of the doodles he drew between notes.
Herman was overly curious, and asked Stamper a question he hadn't ever thought about really; "What if you and I engineered a predator that eats grimm? Mix in a bit of Geist, Leviathan and Apathy genes with some human genes to get the best of both worlds: An aura and the abilities of the previously mentioned grimm. It could be more effective than huntsmans"
