The Yangtze

Prologue

"Shu, Hye keep going, don't stop!!"

"They're in every direction! Where the hell did they come from?!"

"Doesn't matter Hye! Listen to Shen and move your ass!!"

Voices of three Chinese soldiers of the Kuomintang, were heard yelling at each other as they made their way through the very tall grass as they heard gunshots and footsteps behind them. They were ambushed by the Japanese as the Kuomintang forces were patrolling the area.

"Oh shit!!!!" Hye yelled out as a grenade was thrown in front of them. Shu's eyes widened as she pushed Hye back and grabbed Shen to go behind her as she turned her back to face the grenade as she planned to use herself as a meat shield.

"Turn around!!" Shu yelled as she pushed the two back as the grenade exploded behind. But thankfully for the two, since the grenade was far only a tiny piece of shrapnel stabbed Shu in the back but it wasn't serious as to Shu it felt like a pinch.

Shu turned around to see nothing else was ahead so she grabbed both Shen and Hye wrists and started running as this helped the two boys get some acceleration.

"Shu your back!" Hye pointed out as there was a piece of shrapnel on her which made her bleed a little.

"That doesn't matter now! Our lives matter now!" Shu yelled back as they continued to run but they would stop as there was a river blocking their way from the other side.

"Great.." Hye Said as he stared at the river flowing before turning to the two to see if they had any ideas.

"Cross it… we're gonna have to cross it… Shu you first! You're the medic. Hye then you I'll stay until both of you cross in case they attack from behind." Shen said as the other two nodded and Shu Crossed first. After Shu was half way Hye followed soon as Shen looked back to still make sure no one was coming. But every second the gunshots and yelling sounded like they were getting louder and louder. As Hye was halfway Shen turned to see Shu made it across.

"Shen behind you!!" Shu yelled as Shen quickly reached for his sword and pulled it out as he quickly used it to deflect a katana that was aimed at him. Shen quickly got his other hand to hold his sword much better. Shen and the Japanese made eye contact. Shen quickly kicked the Japanese in the knee as it made him kneel, Shen tried to use this to his advantage as he would run up to the Japanese. Only for the Japanese to use his katana and swipe back and forth. Almost making Shen fall back as he would jump back because of this. Shu and Hye watched from across as they both agreed to not interfere.. yet..

The Japanese stood up as they both made eye contact again before they ran up and started fighting as the two were heavily experienced in sword combat. But each hit the Japanese was giving it felt like he was hitting harder and harder. As the two got into a little stalemate the Japanese kicked Shen in the gut which caused him to cough a little and made him look down. The Japanese was gonna strike but instead Shen thought because he was looking down he decided to tackle the Japanese which caused them to fall close by the river.

The two got up by the edge of the river, just glaring at each other. During their tumble Shen's helmet falled off so now his hair was showing. The two circled around, again waiting to see who would strike first.... It would be Shen, Shen quickly swiped on the side only for the Japanese to deflect it.

Shen continue to try to hit the Japanese from different angles but it seem like he knew what Shen was going to do each time. The Japanese would be on the offensive now as he would be more aggressive with his hits. One of his hits barely missed and it cut Shen on the shoulder. Cutting his uniform and skin in the process.

The Japanese would raise his katana up and Shen now knew he was gonna strike down. So instead of Shen deflecting it, he quickly moved out of the way and as the Japanese strikes down. Shen cut the Japanese in the back of his knee. Making the Japanese kneel. With him now kneeling, Shen kicked him hard in the chest making him fall closer to the river.
