Lisa took the initiative to embrace Jennie midway and adjusted their positions so that he was beneath her. He planned to cushion her fall with his own body.
"My wife, you have to live on well!" Lisa's cold and heavy voice was hoarse. He tried his best to imprint her image in his mind. There were too many emotions conveyed through his gaze. He could not bear to leave her.
He dearly wished to spend a lifetime with her. However...
The circumstances would not allow for it.
Jennie realised his intentions. As she heard his familiar words, the memories from her previous life began to replay in her head.
In their previous lifetime, as they had fallen from the rooftop of a skyscraper, he had cushioned her fall with his body, leaving the same words behind.
At the time, she had been both blind and paralysed.
And he had used his life to protect her.
In this life, she had grown beautiful. Still, at the most critical moment, he was using his life to protect her.
It turned out that no matter how she appeared, he was willing to devote his entire life to loving her!
Jennie understood that they were falling from too great of a height. The impact upon collision would be just as strong as when they had fallen from the rooftop.
She absolutely would not allow Lisa to sacrifice his life for her once more. She attempted to shift their bodies and to protect him instead.
However, he held her tightly and prevented her from moving.
She could only watch as they fell closer towards the surface of the water.
Jennie took a deep breath in and held it so that she would not choke on the sea water.
At the same time, she concentrated on the surface of the water and activated her power. She wanted to help both their bodies remain afloat the moment they landed in the water.
Unfortunately, the force upon impact was still too great.
Their bodies smashed against the ocean heavily and began to sink downwards.
After sinking nearly thirty metres beneath the surface, their bodies finally began to float.
Right after falling into the ocean, Lisa immediately released Jennie from his embrace. The painful collision caused him to suffer serious injuries.
Thankfully, he had protected her and she was most likely unharmed.
Even as he faced death, he did not wish to let go of her.
This was because he knew the moment he released her, he would no longer be able to see her again. He would have to head towards death all by himself.
However, he was seriously injured and they only had one life jacket.
He wanted to give the remaining hope of survival to her.
He had no choice. For the first and last time, he let go of her hands.
He originally thought that he would sink towards the depths of the ocean alone. To his shock, Jennie maintained her tight grip on his palm. She began to busy herself with his other hand.
She was actually helping him into the only life jacket they had!
He understood what she was doing and his dazed gaze quickly regained focus. He glared at her underwater and shot her the sharpest look he could muster.
Jennie noticed his expression. Despite the fact that they could not speak, she clearly recognised his anger and understood that he was trying to stop her.
He wanted to place the life jacket back on her. Unfortunately, he had suffered serious injuries when he fell and was in immense pain. He could not move his body due to the extreme discomfort.
He was deeply flustered. Thankfully, right after she placed the life jacket on him, she embraced him tightly and began to swim upwards.
Right as they were about to suffocate and choke on the water, they finally broke the surface.
Jennie coughed out all the water which she had swallowed and began to breathe in the fresh air hungrily.
Lisa was not as lucky. After suffering serious injuries, despite the fact that he was afloat, his head was slanted and he was barely conscious.
