Present
The prince woke up in his bed and he felt refreshed as a wet napkin was posed on his forehead. He tried to adjust his back against the headboard of the bed.
«My head is spinning so darn much...» Taehyun proceeded to massage his temples slowly.
«Don't move too much.» A familiar voice from outside the balcony spoke. Hearing that voice helped him recall his dream.
He dreamt about the times everything was going okay, when him and Beomgyu were closer than ever. When they were two pure-hearted teenagers. The day he finally felt his efforts were worth the time, the struggles and the sacrifices.
He deeply missed those memories with him. Their relationship changed so suddenly, a few months ago. Who changed was actually Beomgyu and the prince doesn't even understand why. He started being cold and distant towards Taehyun and wanted him to actually listen to his parents' demands and objections, as if they were right.
The fair-haired boy looked at the figure out to the balcony. Beomgyu's back was resting against the railing and he had a cigarette in his hand. He was probably out to smoke.
As soon as he felt the prince's gaze on himself, the taller put his cigarette out in the ashtray, which was already filled with several stubs. The smoker started to walk towards the bed.
«Your Royal Highness, are you feeling better now?» The butler showed a faint smile.
«I can't recall anything...» Taehyun sighed. «What happened to me?»
«You suddenly fainted and were unconscious for one hour. The doctor came to visit you and diagnosed a psychogenic fever.»
«What about my parents? Did they say something?» A worried expression showed on the young man's face.
«His Majesty and Her Majesty think your reaction before was caused by the fever. However, they are still furious and want you to deeply apologize to the Kims for your attitude.» Beomgyu came closer to Taehyun as he spoke.
The smell of burnt tobacco slowly filled the prince's lungs. The butler took the napkin off his forehead and soaked it in cold water.
«I see...» The fair-haired royal piched his own nose because of the strong smell.
Beomgyu chuckled and covered his mouth to hide his smiley face. «They wanted me to tell Your Royal Highness to confront them as soon as you woke up.» Taehyun instinctively removed his hand as he saw the brown-haired majordomo's reaction. Was he making fun of him?! The prince frowned, annoyed.
«I will approach my parents later. I just need to talk to Kai now, invite him over.» He demanded. It was clearly an order since he gazed the older with a look that was probably able to kill someone.
«If you just want to tell him the news, I will send him a letter. There is no need to disturb his peace. He's busy and you're sick.» The butler explained. This made sense for the younger, but the prince's thinking was hard to change right now.
«I need to talk to him face to face since you aren't being helpful at all.»
'Not helpful at all? I just wish you realized why I'm doing this.' Beomgyu thought as he sighed. His every action is for a reason.
«As you say, Your Royal Highness.» The majordomo surrended to him, as always.

The next morning.
Beomgyu knocked on the bedroom door and opened it. The prince was peacefully sleeping. However, someone came to see him.
«His Royal Highness still hasn't woken up, Huening Kai.»
The guy in front of Beomgyu was tall, he was around 180cm tall. His skin was pale and delicate. Kai's face was small and harmonious. His hair was dark brown and looked really soft. Even though Huening Kai was mixed, half Korean and half American, his eyes were small and almond-shaped, a typical asian feature.
The hanbok he wore was colored in blue and black with no ornaments. People could figure out his social status by the hanbok, since in the 19th century, commoners weren't allowed to wear white or have ornaments on their clothes. In his right hand was a drink he brought to refresh himself while walking towards the castle.
The young boy was speechless. «Do you know how long it took me to come here?»
«Yes, of course I do. But...»
Hyuka just walked in the room like he owned the place. He stood up next to the sleeping Taehyun. «Huh? You invited me over to just forget about me when you're tired? Bro, I walked here! I don't own a carriage. Appreciate the fact that I'm here to support you because I'm a good friend... or else you could have found me snoring in my warm blankets in my bed!» Beomgyu quickly stopped the younger, who was trying to wake the handsome prince up.
«Huening... I think we have lost him. He is still in Dreamland.» he giggled.
«I was in Dreamland too when your letter arrived last night. By the way, you scared me so much... what the heck? Does he really have to... ugh. He's too young!» Kai complained.
«They are acting fast, but well, I shouldn't be the one to explain everything to you.» Beomgyu looked at the sleeping Taehyun, smiling slightly.
«What about you? What do you think about it?»
«About him getting married? What should I think?»
«You know what I mean.»
«Huening, not here. You know His Royal Highness is sly!» The equerry said as he put his hand on the prince's head, ruffling his hair.
«But I'm smarter.» A grin filled with satisfaction lingered on his face.
Taehyun's eyes opened widely by the older's sudden action. In fact, he wasn't really asleep. He was eavesdropping and of course, he got caught by the person who knew him the most. «Hey! Choi Beomgyu...!» the prince shouted as he adjusted his position on the bed. He was now sitting on it.
«How did you know?!» Huening asked.
«Intuition.» He said as he smiled.
Actually, the brown-haired butler noticed Taehyun's eyes were fully closed, so he wasn't really sleeping. He was pretending to be asleep. When he is really asleep, his eyes don't close fully.
«Well, I will leave you two alone. Bye, Huening. Goodbye, Your Royal Highness.» The equerry smiled again as he looked at the fair-haired, who was furious and shocked because he was caught.
Beomgyu secretly giggled as he thought his reaction was hilarious. The oldest bowed and left, closing the door behind him.
Taehyun got up from the bed, his fists were closed and his face was almost red from anger. The reason he got angry still wasn't clear to him. Was he mad because he got caught or for something else?
Though Beomgyu's words from earlier echoed in the prince's head. 'About him getting married? What should I think?' He recalled his questions, not knowing anymore what to do about Beomgyu's behavior and his current arranged marriage. «What is wrong with him?!»
Luckily or not, the thought about this guy slowly faded from his mind as a familiar, disgusting smell filled the room.
«Shut up and take a shower. You have to tell me all the gossip.» Kai said in an innocent, lovely tone. He then proceeded to take a sip of his mint chocolate drink.
«Throw away that stinky toothpaste and I assure you, I will.»
Author's note
I would call this a filler chapter, but it is still important for Beomgyu's character.
