There was a light cover of snow on the ground when I woke up. It was finally Thanksgiving Day and I was excited to see what activities would take place. I was still going to Harry’s new home tonight and I continued to wonder what surprise he had for me. I grabbed a gray beanie to put over my hair and a thick, furry jacket to take Bella outside. She almost blended into the white over the grass and didn’t seem to mind the snow at all. It was still falling from the sky, making me smile because it made my backyard a beautiful sight to see. Bella looked up at me and I figured she probably wanted to get back inside to warm up.
I found Gabby laying on the sofa, texting someone on her phone. She knew I was hanging out with Harry tonight which made me nervous. If she ended up telling someone and the word spread, I would get in trouble. I turned the TV and began watching the news to see how much snow we were supposed to get over the day.
“You’re not wearing that to Harry’s house, right?” Gabby said, taking in my sweatpants and jacket.
“Why does it matter?” I didn’t really plan on wearing anything special for him. The last thing I wanted was to lead him on that I wanted to look hot for him.
“Because he’s your future boyfriend, that’s why.” She gave me the “duh” look and I rolled my eyes.
“I am not, shut up.”
“Well you’re not planning on staying with Landon forever… Are you?” I was starting to hate her twenty questions a day about Harry and Landon. The topic was getting old. I wasn’t dumping Landon, and I don’t see him dumping me either. Now, I don’t know if that means we’ll be together forever. I can’t see the future so I really wish she would just leave the subject as is.
“You know what, maybe I am.” I gave her a hard expression, hoping she would take a hint and back off. She didn’t though.
“Kam, you know I just want what’s best for my baby sister.”
“Yeah, I realize that. But I’m fine.” I took my attention off of her and watched the Meteorologist on the screen. I heard a soft sigh from her, but she did stay quiet.
Most of my clothes were dirty, so I had little options for what I could wear to Harry’s. I scanned through my closet, seeing only club appropriate shirts and skirts. All of my drawers were practically empty. I hated doing laundry and usually waited for Gabby to wash our clothes. Since Adam and her fought regularly, she stopped cleaning and started acting more depressed a lot. I felt bad and wanted to help her, but I wasn’t sure if I could do anything.
I heard a soft yelp come from behind me and I turned. Bella poked her head out under a long sleeved blue sweater. “Where did you find that baby?” I said to her, placing my hand on my hip. I had been looking for that shirt for days now and couldn’t find it. The shirt smelled clean and I pulled it over my tank top. I grabbed a dark pair of skinny jeans and fuzzy black boots and decided that outfit was cute, and not asking for too much attention. I kept my beanie on, and added a scarf around my neck after zipping up my jacket.
I had bought a doggy to go bag for Bella since I figured this day would come sooner or later. Harry didn’t know I was bringing her along, but I knew he loved her just as much as I did. Bella snuggled into my arms as I carried her and the bag out to my car to leave. She stayed in the passenger seat and laid down, like a good girl. The roads weren’t awful and I kept seeing salt trucks everywhere to maintain them. I followed Harry’s text for directions to his new flat. It was pretty simple and I found the house in no time. It was barely 3 p.m. still, Harry told me to come early. I knew he missed me a lot, but I was trying to keep a good distance. Unless Landon did dump me, I knew I needed to just be friends with Harry, which was hard because I wanted to be so much more than that. “Come here Bella.” I cooed at her until she walked across my lap. I tried to walk quickly up to the door so I wouldn’t get snowed on. I decided to let myself in since I didn’t see a light on. I figured maybe he wasn’t here. I shut the door behind me and heard loud screams causing me to jump.
