"Mom later, I need to catch the train it's already half past eight." "Okay sweetie have a good day, it's your first big interview so remember to always be cordial and polite." Lily Heart reached the destination according to the address on the text message.

New York City, high-end office building, 42nd floor. Occasionally there are people coming in and out, all coming and going in a hurry, talking very fast, all of them look elegant and well-dressed. She pressed the elevator and went up, and found Roberts Trading. The receptionist at the door looked young, no more than thirty years old. When she saw her coming, she hurriedly asked her name, and started scrolling through her computer several times.

"Lily Heart, here for an interview." She asked nonchalantly as if it was an inconvenience.

        "Which position?"

        "Financial Director."

"Ms. Heart, your appointment is at ten o'clock. Please sign in here first, and then go to the lounge to wait, Mr. Dane will be here soon."

        "Okay." Lily nodded

After following the receptionist to the lounge, she poured herself a glass of water and started scrolling through her phone.

Looking at the time it's already half past ten and she was already impatient .

"When can my interview start?" Lily asked the receptionist. She wanted to leave, the people in this company seem so rude and unserious. I don't want to waste my time here.

"He's coming, He's coming," the receptionist explained, "I just called, Mr. Dane will be here in a moment."

He'll be there in a moment.

Lily took a deep breath and went back again and waited for another half an hour. She raised her hand and looked at her watch, then looked at the idle figure of the receptionist outside the frosted door. She picked up her folder and stood up, ready to leave.

This is really a waste of other people's time, she took a leave of absence from her current job. If I knew I should have just stayed home and relax.

Lily walked to the door and was about to open it when the door opened by itself.

"Ms. Heart, I'm sorry for the long wait. Mr. Dane is already here," the girl at the front desk said, "Can we start now?"

"Okay." Holding her bag, Lily sighed.

The receptionist took her directly to the general manager's office - it was quite large and well decorated, and there were already two men inside. One was in his forties, sitting across from the desk, looking serious; the other man looked really young likely in his mid-twenties, wearing a white shirt, he was quite handsome, leaning carelessly against the window, also looking at her.

"Please take a seat." The middle-aged man sitting upright began to speak and picked up her resume, "Lily Heart?"

"Yes." It seemed that the middle age man is Mr. Dane and he's the examiner. Lily stopped looking at the young man next to him and braced herself for this interview.

        "Graduated from University of Texas?"

        "Yes."

"Texas University is pretty good at finance. It's been two years since you graduated?"

        "Yes."

        "Would you mind introducing yourself?"

        …

Lily started presenting herself. She was already prepared when she came. This "Mr. Dane" asked several questions, but none of them were related to her profession. She guessed that this Mr. Dane probably didn't know much about finance - and if he knew about finance himself, why would he hire a financial manager?

"Do you have leadership experience in your last job?"

        "Yes."

        Do you have a certificate"

        "Yes."

"Ms. Heart, we are recruiting a financial manager," the young man standing at the window who had been sizing her up suddenly said, "In addition to basic skills, we also need you to be able to establish a financial system and standardize operating procedures "

"This is no problem. I am very experienced in this."

Even if you don't know it's best to always say you know.

The young asked a few more questions. Finally, he asked her, "What is your expected salary?"

Lily's mind flashed, she smiled, "Three hundred thousand dollars."

        "One year? Before tax?"

"After tax." The asking price is very high almost double the average salary for this position. This company is rude and unreliable, I don't count on working here.

The young man smiled, and Mr. Dane folded her resume. Lily was ready to "go back and wait for the obvious answer of rejection." The young man asked, "When can you start working?"

        "In one month"

"We can't wait that long," the young man said. "Can you start within half a month?"

Lily thought about the money and said, "In this case, I'll need to go back and confirm."

After leaving the building and standing at the bus stop waiting for the bus, Lily was still muttering in her mind. Are they really going to pay her 300,000$ after tax?

        She didn't believe it.
