After being Reincarnated as a Cat Girl, I Somehow obtained a Unique Subclass

First Adventure

The morning dew still graced the tall grass, as Zatiel made her way from her campsite to the edge of the forest. The subtropical environment was full of strange plants and trees. This was her first time exploring a forest, so she slowly moved through the dense underbrush, scanning the area for potential threats.

After a short walk there was less underbrush, making it easier to move. She smelt something rancid, before she heard something faint. Her eyes followed the sound, and she caught sight of something flying at her.

Without thinking, she raised her shield and heard a loud clunk, as something bounced off. Cackling followed, high pitched and strange to her ears. She heard movement in the surrounding forest, as she ducked behind a nearby tree.

Peeking out, she spotted something dark green in the distance. She was at a disadvantage in the forest, as the goblins had natural camouflage. After careful consideration, she decided to lure them out and started running back the way she came.

“Hey. Come on!”

She yelled at the top of her lungs, as she leapt over the underbrush and back out into the fields. She put some distance between her and the treeline, before she turned around. The goblins came out of the underbrush spread out and in numbers. 

Many of the creatures had clubs and a few carried daggers, but she did not see the archer. They were about the same height as her with pointed ears, sharp teeth, and grotesque faces. They rushed at her, as she drew a spear from her shield.

She pointed her shield and cast a dark bolt at the closest dagger wielding goblin. The black energy ball hit the creature in the leg, causing the goblin to stumble and fall as its leg began to rot. Hunkering down behind her shield, she thrust her spear into the next goblin's chest and batted an incoming club away with her shield. Taking a few steps backwards, she tried to keep them from surrounding her, as she stabbed another in the gut.

That's when she saw the archers at the treeline, drawing arrows. Instinctively, she cast short-range teleport and appeared behind them. She thrusted her spear at one and bashed the other in the side of its head, sending the creature stumbling.

Heart racing, she stabbed the remaining creature before it could recover and threw her spear at one of the dagger wielding goblins now rushing at her again. As the monster fell, she pulled another spear from her shield and threw it at the last goblin equipped with a dagger. Retrieving another spear from her shield, she sidestepped a thrown rock and tried to cast the slow curse on the remaining six goblins as she avoided them.

She led the goblins out into the field and cast the float spell on herself, before she put her spear away and retrieved the cheat sheet from her pocket dimension. After picking five curses to practice, she cast them all at once on one of the goblins at a time. Weaken reduced strength, slow reduced agility, fumble reduced dexterity, frail reduced vitality, stupify reduced intelligence, witless reduced wisdom, and poison did damage over time. 

She managed to cast the spells on all six monsters, before they disappeared into the forest. She returned the cheat sheet to her pocket dimension. Releasing her float spell, she landed awkwardly and grabbed her status tag. She had plenty of mana left, but it was still draining. 

Satisfied with her efforts, Zatiel drew her hunting knife and returned to the previous battlefield. She checked the goblins for survivors and ended a few of them who still clung to life, as she retrieved her spears and cleaned them. After removing the goblin blood from her weapons, she sheathed them in her shield once more before she started the process of cutting the cores out.

She had six magical cores and three daggers, so she opened her pocket dimension and took out a cloth bag to stow the stones and tossed it all into the portal. She cleaned her knife and sheathed it, before she entered the forest again. Zatiel picked up the goblins’ trail easily and followed signs deeper into the forest.
