Sitting on a ledge looking at the water, Bryson Strife was reading a book about the history of Culetex. Suddenly, from nowhere, his best friend Robin Phoenix surprised him.
"You know, for being ten years old, you are quite engrossed in your books... Why can't you be like me!?" he said with a happy demeanour. Robin had pink spiky hair, and his face was rugged, even for a kid. He wore a red shirt, black jeans, high combat boots, and a few scars on his arms. Bryson sighed and looked back at him.
"Yes, and get into fights with anything I see? No thanks!" Bryson said calmly. He was always the calm and intelligent one of the two. Bryson had blue eyes, smooth blue hair, a red V-neck shirt with a blue jacket, black jeans, and some red runners. He had the softer face of the two.
"Hey, don't knock it till you try it, Bro! So why are you out here? You don't normally come out here unless either me or your sister drags you out!" Robin said, laughing. Bryson sighed.
"Sis and Jaxon asked me to, too. They were having a private conversation, so I decided to grab a book and come out here." Robin looked at the book's cover.
"Hmm... you always read the book; why are you invested in the History part of our World?" Bryson shrugged and looked at Robin.
"It's not the book; technically, I re-read a specific passage. The part I am interested in most is 'All is well in Culetex, The Chosens set for Highers', and that's it. After that, it's blank." Robin smiled.
"That's why you're the smart one! You are the one who knows things, so I can't say much! Oh yes! Speaking of blank, I had a mind blank!"
"What's new? You always have a Mind Blank, Robin." Robin poked his tongue out.
"Shut up! Anyway, the Old Man wants to see us!"
"The Elder?" Bryson asked, "What does he want from us?" Robin shrugged and spoke.
"I don't know... oh yeah, Bryson... Be careful; some Wild Beasts have been on the fritz recently, so fighting might be involved." Bryson grabbed a spear from behind a pillar.
"Don't worry. My Sister gave me my dad's Spear before I came here, but I find it weird. Typically, before you come barging up here, many of the Wild Beasts enjoyed my reading. I wonder what happened." Robin looked at him.
"I don't know... but hmm, your hands don't glow like mine when I cast Artes, so you can only perform basic attacks." Bryson sighed.
"Yes... I guess my Mark hasn't Attuned yet..." Bryson and Robin were born with Special Marks on their hands; the one on Robins's hand represented a Phoenix, and the one on Bryson's hand represented a Three-Headed dog. Bryson didn't know. However, Robin's Mark is attuned, but he never sees the one who represents his Mark; he still has the power of fire inside him. Due to this, Robin focuses on Fire Artes and anything related to fire.

They made their way down the hill; they saw Wild Beasts. Robin performed the one Fire Arte, which he knew, "Fire Fist!" which, when he punched, would uncover his fists with Fire; pretty self-explanatory. They eventually made it down. Bryson looked at him.
"I still don't get how you can be so full of energy after those fights." Eventually, an older-looking guy with a cane, a white handlebar moustache, a White goatee, a bit of white hair, and a white robe approached them.
"Ah, Robin, good! You came with Bryson." Bryson looked at him.
"Is this important, Elder? It's unusual for you to call me or Robin out unless you have errands to run around the village..."
"Yes, young ones, there's a temple near here. I want you two to come with me to check it out." Robin groaned; he hates Ancient places.
"Really? You called me for that!? I mean, you have Bryson here! Why must I come?"The Elder glared at him.
"Robin, please come with me; I need both of you." They made their way up their way to the Temple

They entered, but it was decrepit and broken on the inside. "Elder... this place is broken down. Are you sure this is where we are meant to be?" The Elder nodded and pointed to some doors. "There... Robin, you stay behind. I need you to guard the main room."
Robin nodded. "If you're sure, Old Man... But why must I? I can join Bryson... he can't fight like me." The Elder shook his head.
"No, you and I must stay here, as this is what I need Bryson for." Bryson nodded and entered the doorway. As the Elder called out, "NOW!" The doors slam shut after Bryson and Robin is restrained. Robin was mad.
"What the hell!? Old Man, what are you doing?" He asked madly, struggling against the ones who held him down. The Elder crossed his arms and looked at the door.
"Bryson, you're Mark is not meant to be... you are nothing but a freak! Don't worry... we will tell everyone you perished!" The Elder laughed. "Hmm..." he tapped Robins's head to knock him out, and soon Left with everyone, Bryson was alone in the hall; it was dark.
"Why did the Elder do this?" Bryson asked himself, his eyes adjusted to see in the dark better. "Thank the Gods nobody knows my real secret..." Bryson walked down the hallway, hoping to find a way out of the Trap the Elder set for him
