It was summer, the weather was bright and the sky was blue like the sea. Kenza sat by her window and stared at the street from her apartment, kenza was lost in her thought. Suddenly the door opened. It was Kenza's parents.

"Why are you sitting there like that? You look like someone who's in deep thoughts. Is any thing the matter?" Kenza's mum Juliana said while dropping the bag of fruits she came in with in the kitchen.

"Oh honey let her be, she might just be enjoying the moment, i mean, it's summer, look the sky is pretty today, probably that's the view she's mesmerized by." Kenza's dad Eric smiled at Kenza who was staring at the both of them.

"Mom you're always thinking the worst and Dad was right, like he said I'm mesmerized by the sky" Eric's assumption about Kenza being mesmerized by the sky was sweet but Juliana's intuition was closer to the truth. Kenza however simply smiled grabbed her earpiece and retreated to her room.

Kenza was in deep thought. She was just thinking of ways to make it big. Kenza is a 27 years-old who still lives with her parents and who's still figuring out her life. Kenza is a graduate who studied marketing but hasn't been able to get a decent job. She has tried blogging, YouTubing, and even auditioned for modeling and acting but it hasn't worked out for. She recently lost her job at a mall she used to work at. Kenza's parents are not rich; they live in an apartment downtown, which isn't in the nicest area. Her parents barely earn enough for the three of them.

Kenza laid on her bed then picked up her phone and was scrolling through Instagram when she saw yet another of her Classmate who was in Bali having the time of her life with a couple of their Classmates, then a notification popped up in her class group chat another Classmate of hers was engaged to a wealthy man.

"Ugh, life is full of shit. Look at Laura, how did she bag such a man? I Thought we were all broke" Kenza dropped her phone angrily on the bed then another notification popped up. Kenza picked up her phone and it was her friend Audrey who texted her.

*Kenza are you free to hang out today, I'm quite bored* Audrey text read.

*sure, I'm not doing anything anyways, let's meet up at the café close to my house* Kenza texted her back.

Kenza looked at herself in the mirror checking out her outfit if it was fit to wear out. She wore a blue short and a white crop top.

"Mmm this would do." Kenza picked up her snickers, put it on and headed for the living room.

"Mum I'm heading out to see Audrey I'll be back soon" Kenza yelled while exiting the house.

Kenza arrived at the café and Audrey was waiting for her already. Audrey waved at her with a smile on her face. Kenza smile and waved back while approaching her.

"Hey what's up? it's been like a minute." Kenza said while taking a seat.

"I know I've been a little busy, my boss literally kills us with lots of work everyday, and I wonder why the work is so massive when it's not even a big company and they don't even pay us much." Audrey took a sip of her coffee.

"At least you've got a job, there's some of us who can't relate." Kenza placed her right hand on her waist.

"I'm sure you'll find something soon. Any ways did you see Laura's engagement ring? That ring is huge!" Audrey exclaimed in excitement.

"I saw it too, but then again how did she bag such a man, I mean, last time I checked she was dating Harry and Harry doesn't have a penny to his name, I was like whoa, that was a switch, how did the switch even happen? Kenza asked with her brows being furrowed, waiting to hear if Audrey knows anything.

"Girl, i was shocked as you were too, considering the fact that they were both in crazy in love. They both couldn't stay away from each other for fifteen minutes, girl, I am as shocked as you are. Anyway, you know how curious I am. I ended up texting her after congratulating her. I asked her to give me the full details. she said she was going to meet up with me this weekend and spill all the beans. you know how friendly I am with everyone." Audrey smiled and shook her head in a playful way.

"Can I tag along, because I'm intrigued. By the way, it's not like Laura and I have had any issues in the past, and besides we were a little bit close back then in school." Kenza folded her hands on her chest.

"I don't think she'll mind, I'll text her to inform her about you joining us." Audrey said while taking another sip of her coffee.

"I Honestly can't wait." Kenza smiled with excitement.

"Look at you, little miss gossip" Audrey said making the both of them burst out of laughter.

*At Kenza's house*

Kenza arrived home to the smell of cooked meal. The food was displayed on the dining table and Eric was already seated.

"Honey you are right on time, even though you stayed quite long." Juliana said while dropping a spoon on the table.

"I hung out with Audrey, and I'm an adult, you know, mum." Kenza smiled at her mum.

"I know, I still get to worry, or I'm I not allowed to?" Juliana smiled back at Kenza.

"I don't know about you both but this meal is really delicious. your mum makes the best meals. I just wish I could say the same for you Kenza." Eric said with a big bite of food in his mouth.

"Come on dad it's not like my cooking is horrible, I'm just not as good as mum, but I'll get there at the right time. At least I make the best oats." Kenza smiled at her dad.

"Look at her, oats are what's giving her hope that she's a great cook." Eric laughed.

"You both should cut it out. no talking while eating." Juliana said while putting a food in her mouth.

"Your mum is always a bore." Eric playfully Said, and they all laughed.
