Somewhere far far away from Wartwood
An ancient temple stood atop a roaring waterfall located deep within Amphibia's swamplands, its blackstone structure adorned with intricate gold-lined patterns shimmered in the morning light.
The temple was approached by a group of newt explorers. They were intent on uncovering the mysteries of this ancient site and presenting what they would find to all of Amphibia.
While in awe- The newts climbed up the blackstone stairs implanted in the walls by the waterfall. Until they reached the temple's entrance. Once the newts had arrived, brass engravings set in the walls of the temple's entrance suddenly began to glow. The engravings then shifted and morphed into an art piece the newt's were familiar with. The art piece itself was made as a warning to turn around and run, and the entrance's engravings mimicked the art piece perfectly. The newts however, were much too focused on the engravings ability to shift, that they completely ignored its warning.
"I... I've never seen anything like this... walls that can change shape!?" One newt commented excitedly.
"It's simply a marvel of ancient technological innovation!" Said another.
"We must figure out how to get inside this temple. There must be hundreds of other secrets just like this one, waiting to be found!" A third newt finished. The three Newts then headed over to the temple's gate, which was closed shut. One newt noticed a small projection off the top of the giant gate, and lassoed a rope onto the jutted edge. The three newts then pulled down on the gate, causing it to fall to the ground.
A cloud of dust hit the three newts directly, causing them to cough and lose part of their vision temporarily. The newts waved the dust away and waited for their eyes to adjust... but they never did.
An eerie whistling suddenly echoed through the clearing, terrifying the blind newts.
"What... What was that!? Is that from the temple?" one newt asked.
The whistling then suddenly ceased.
No... It's coming from behind you" a distorted and reverberated voice responded.
The three newts all rubbed their eyes again, and they could finally see. The newts all turned around and saw an obscured figure standing behind them, its cloak fluttering in the wind, giving the figure an almost ghost-like appearance at first glance.
"You have found his ancient temple... great treasure awaits you three." The figure explained to the newts.
"What... What kind of treasure?" A newt asked with piqued interest.
"The treasure... of an endless slumber..." The figure responded.
The newts' eyes widened in terror as they realized the danger they were suddenly in. With a sense of urgency, they scrambled to escape, but their efforts were in vain—the figure was upon them in an instant.
The piercing sound of blades being unsheathed filled the air as the figure revealed two gleaming sickle blades. With deadly precision, it swung the sickles at the retreating newts, knocking them off their feet.
One of the newts attempted to retaliate, swinging its tail at the figure, but the attack was effortlessly countered. The figure seized the newt's tail and hurled it into a nearby wall, leaving it stunned and incapacitated.
Another newt propped up and lunged at the figure, attempting to bite it. But the figure was too quick. Delivering a powerful blow to the newt's chest with the blunt end of its sickle. The newt crumpled to the ground, gasping for air.
The third newt watched helplessly as its allies were swiftly dealt with, unable to muster the strength to intervene. As the figure turned its attention to the last remaining newt, it braced itself for the final blow, but to its surprise, the figure hesitated, as if held back by some unseen force. Before the newt could make sense of this sudden change, a cloud of smoke appeared out of nowhere, and enveloped them both. Darkness closed in as the newt's consciousness slipped away.
