Alice could hear the faint bass from the music playing below the floor beneath her. Samael had led them all to an abandoned, boarded up establishment about a ten minute walk away from Hell's Gate. Most of the buildings in the surrounding area had been worn down and abandoned for quite some time. Graffiti littered the walls, some of it quite marvelous art, while some was derogatory in every sense of the word. They passed through a few rooms; things like '666' or 'Welcome to Hell' were spray painted on the walls. Silly things you find in most places that host graffiti. Alice stifled a laugh, imaging the edge lord who probably wrote it.
They all finally made it to a door. Samael opened it, and the girls peered down into the darkness. Alice shared a nervous glance with her friends, all displaying similar skeptical expressions.
"The lights are kept off so anyone who stumbles upon it is more likely to think nothing out of the ordinary is here." Samael explained, noticing their obvious discomfort.
"Kinda hard to think that with the amount of bass in the music," Alice shot back, humor lacing her words.
"One can try!"
One by one they all made their way down a long staircase, careful not to trip over each other in their tipsy state.
They all made a train following Samael through the dark basement to another door with lights dancing through the cracks, and music bumping behind it. He opened the door, and hurried them all in.
LED lights flashed and lasered across the room in a rainbow of colors, in-sync with the music. The room was decently sized with a bar in the corner, and a DJ working their magic opposite of where they entered.
"Wow!" Anna marveled.
Alice couldn't help but stare up at the glow-in-the-dark stars that were sprinkled all over the ceiling, "Beautiful.."
"They're astronomically accurate," Samael stated proudly, smiling, "I'm happy to be the one to show you guys this place, it's one of my favorite hang out spots for many reasons."
Samael signaled them to follow him to the bar.
"I'm not sure if you guys are into psychedelics, but if you are, this guy is your man," He introduced the girls to the guy behind the bar.
"Hey! Nice to meet you lovely ladies. I'm Leon, I am indeed a man of many wares," He chuckled, reaching his tattooed hand to shake theirs one by one.
"Nice to meet you, too." Anna smiled, her eyes practically hearts.
"Nice to meet you," Elena and Alice also chimed in.
Leon had blonde, shaggy hair that reached below his ears. Resting in his left ear was a silver, dangling earring. He was absolutely gorgeous and Anna couldn't help but swoon.
"So are you guys up for an interesting night?" The tatted up blonde asked, dangling a baggie full of dried mushrooms in front of them, "Or are you sticking to drinks?"
Samael responded, "You know I'm always looking for an interesting night." He then turned to Alice, "Please don't feel pressured or anything. I know this environment can be overwhelming to some."
Alice was no stranger to psychedelics. She knew the common tips: be with people you trust, have a good environment, make sure your mental health is up to it, and all that good stuff. The brunette had heard of all the dangers that could come from them, all the cautionary tales, but she had yet to have a bad experience. When she graduated High School she had a small phase where she would take tabs like candy whenever she could without her tolerance getting too high for her to get any effects. Her friends were no strangers to them either as they all shared a massive interest in spirituality.
The girls shared a mischievous look, smiles forming on their faces.
"I could definitely use an interesting night," Anna said.
"It's been so long," Alice stated, recalling her last trip on a triple dosed tab. Her and Elena watched The Princess and the Frog and were completely locked to the bed, unable to move if they wanted too. The fireflies from the bayou scene had filled the room around the flatscreen, and it was the most magical experience she had ever had. Tears involuntarily spilled from her eyes practically the whole movie with the waves of euphoria that washed over her and receded like waves.
"I'm down if you're down," Elena said, locking eyes with Alice.
"Why not?" Alice responded, giving a big smile. Excitement coursed through her veins.
Leon smirked, weighing out two grams for each of them. "This should be enough to have a decent effect, but you'll still be able to find your way home," he teased.
The girls watched him pull out four cups, as well as a mortar and pestle. He powdered the mushrooms and dosed them evenly into each cup. Alice was impressed, she also noticed Anna was much more than impressed. She imagined hearts floating above her friend's head, and struggled to conceal her smile at the thought.
Leon filled the cups with orange juice, using a long spoon to give it a good mix with the powder at the bottom.
"This should help it go down smooth," Leon set their cups in front of them on the bar, "Gotta make sure Samael's friends have the best experience possible," He winked at Anna.
Leon and Samael shared a quick knowing glance that Elena caught, but she could have never imagined what it was about. Her instincts told her to be weary of them, despite their charms. They had been nothing but kind and accommodating, so she felt bad about placing doubts upon them. Elena always tried to look for the best in people, and she prayed for Alice that Samael was as promising as he came across. She knew the brunette didn't need anymore heartbreak, and she hoped the rest of this night would go well.
Checking her phone, hoping for a text from Rebecca and finding none, she let out a sad sigh. Elena knew she shouldn't let it get to her and the universe was just making room for what was meant for her, but that was easier said than done.
"Hey, wanna take a picture for memories?" Anna piped up.
The girls all piled together with their shroomy orange juice in hand.
"Get over here Samael!" Anna pulled him into the picture by Alice who let out an apologetic chuckle.
They took so many goofy pictures, and even pulled Leon into some of them.
Elena and Anna posted some to their stories, and by the end of it, they had all drank their shroom juice.
