Chapter 2

The Red keep

The now 4-year-old Daeron Targaryen was an absolute joy to the servant's guards and visiting nobles of the Red keep like his older brother he had a talent for singing his songs were basic nursery rimes that he had been taught but what impressed people was especially his father and tutors were he sang them in perfect High Valyrian his magic aided him in learning the language history and culture of the lands very easily.

The year was 265 after Aegon's conquest and Westeros was becoming very prosperous under Tywin Lannister the hand of the king the young prince was fascinated with the lion of the rock the way his mind worked when it came to business was amazing so today he decided to study/spy on the lord Tywin.

For Lord Tywin It was very amusing seeing the young prince following him as secretly as a 4-name day old child can but he was in a good mood and decided to humour the young dragon.

By the time he got to the tower of the hand, the young prince had gotten bored of trying to hide and jogged up to him with a big smile on his face.

"Lord Tywin can I watch you work," he asked with his Targaryen eyes looking up at me full of curiosity but there was something else there a hunger, a hunger for knowledge. Nodding his head the Hand of the King showed him to his desk he had a lot of paperwork to do the boy's father had been hounding me for days about many different projects such as building a new wall 400 miles north of the current one to claim the land between them the newest one was to build a new capital city like this one smelt of piss and shit.

However, maybe this prince took more after his mother than his father only time would tell.

How on earth could prince Daeron just vanish at this time he would be in the gardens it had been nearly 4 hours since anyone had seen him it was only when I heard the prince giggling that I knew where he was.

As I entered the Tower of the Hand, I found the young prince with the Hand of the King looking at a book full of pictures drawings of all the Targaryen dragons.

"Lord Tywin what happened to all the dragons." the poor boy looked confused and of course, Lord Tywin was blunt as normal.

"They died out Prince Daeron over 100 years ago" the sad look in his eyes was replaced with determination.

"I will find a dragon it will make Father so happy and our house will be stronger than ever before."

Before Tywin could respond I made my presence known. "My Prince your mother is looking for you it's nearly time for lunch."

The Prince bless his soul looked shocked. "oh no ill be late thank you Lord Tywin bye." with that he ran off I was getting too old for this.

Every member of the kingsguard loved the young prince his smiles and laughter was a nice change in the red keep one thing they hated was his tears one time about a year ago when the young prince was playing near the Sword Tower when he fell and hurt his leg his cry's had brought the kingsguard to his side in seconds trying to get him to calm down he truly did when his mother came but he was soon back to smiles and laughter.

The next day even King Aerys spent time with the lad having him sit on his knee on the iron throne to see how the days passed at the court. But many in the court worried the king constantly went from idea to idea never focusing on one thing for more than a week was this the beginning stages of the madness that had claimed the Targaryen's could prince Rhaegar or even prince Daeron be affected many secretly prayed to the seven that it was not true.

Daeron's P.O.V

Life as a prince was good my mother loved me very much I had a big brother and a father for some reason I enjoyed life as a prince it was nice after so many centuries to just be a child again could I have taken this world by storm well not at my current age most if not all of my powers were still locked only with age would I be able to unlock my full power again.

While I did spend most of my time playing or sleeping but there were times I would show off some intelligence it kept people guessing as I heard a passing noble say once when you play the game of thrones you win or you die and right now my family were winning we held the throne the only question was for how long could we continue to hold it.

Our main opposition right now was house Lannister Lord Tywin was the real power behind the throne but now it was getting late as I saw my mother walk in. "time for bed my little dragon."

As Rhaegar was Walking to his quarters after his lessons with the kingsguard, while it was hard I was willing to learn the art of the blade I preferred my books and music if there was one person he knew would love to wield a sword it was his little brother.

He would always see him watching us train maybe him being born on the day of the warrior had helped he just hoped he would not go the way of Maegor the cruel maybe he could teach him music yes that's what he would do.

Walking out of his room down the hall to Daeron's rooms to ask him but by the time he got there his brother was already asleep, it was so strange but watching him sleep was nice he was only 2 years younger than me that's when I saw a book in his sleeping hands picking it up I read the title (the geographical layout of the stepstones).

what in the name of the seven was he reading this for what interested him about the Stepstones it didn't matter it was getting late he would have to ask him in the morning returning to his quarters he lay down and went to sleep.

Rhaegar never did ask his brother about the book he was more interested in a new book he found in the library maybe he should have asked his brother about the book for in a few years Daeron would make moves that would make him a powerful player in the Game Of Thrones.

He had dreams just like his father and brother but unlike them, he knew he would make his come true a Grand Empire to rival that of Old Valyria, unlike them however he would not fall to infighting or be swallowed up by the Doom, he would endure long after he was gone.

You see death had unlocked certain memories of his old world, particularly of one of the Ancient Empires and young Daeron would use these memories to build his own Empire on but instead of the Imperial Eagle his troops would follow the Dragon into war.
