Chapter 8

Bloodstone

Empire of New Valyria

Daeron Targaryen, Dragon Lord of the East and Emperor of New Valyria sat on his throne thinking back on the past 2 years and all he had accomplished, within 2 years he had conquered the disputed lands and the 3 daughters hell even now in the disputed lands his forces were overseeing the construction of a new city which luckily was not costing him much due to his slaves.

Yes, the young Dragon had decided to go the way of his ancestors and use slaves to build his Empire, a move that would make him unpopular back home but he could not care less about Westeros and its Lords, he had far bigger problems.

His quick conquests had a flaw his military was spread thin across his domain leaving him with only a thousand soldiers he could deploy to a Hotspot if needed but doing so would weaken Bloodstone.

Ironically It was his new nobles the majority of which drove him insane with the complaining at the best of times that came up with a clever idea, an idea that had taken a year to properly get ready if you were of Valyrian heritage you were considered a true citizen of the empire and could join the main legions, but for those who were not Valyrian, they were considered freedmen.

Non-citizens who could work within the empire but could not hold any position of power within the empire, and if they wanted to become citizens they could join the axillary Legions, they would sign up for 15 years after that should they survive they would be made citizens.

"Oh Daeron my dragon." came a beautiful voice from the doorway that led to his chambers, standing there was his wife and Empress consort Ashara Targaryen originally of House Dayne of Starfall, Her long black hair hung down behind her, and her haunting violet eyes were full of love as she had her hands over her baby bump.

Oh yes, Daeron had not taken things slowly once he had married Ashara he wasted no time in putting an heir in her after all it would secure his new dynasty that would last over a thousand years... well that was the plan at first but the day Ashara landed at Bloodstone he fell for her instantly the wedding was attended by her family and his nobles, sadly but not unsurprisingly, no one from House Targaryen showed.

However, one thing about his old family did make him laugh his father had found out that he now possessed both Blackfyre and Dark-Sister, apparently Aerys upon hearing the news had screamed in anger for hours then spent 4 days in his chambers refusing to come out, that always made him laugh.

Turning back his attention to his wife he smiled at her, "yes my dear what is it." she walked up to the throne sitting down on his lap pulling his arms around her.

"oh, I see". he chuckled as she snuggled into him, "well it is getting late my love come let's get you to bed."

With her securely in his arms, he made his way to their chambers, "Dae do you think our child will be a boy or girl." Ashara asked tiredly making Daeron smile at her.

"As long as our child is happy and healthy I don't mind what gender it is, however, if it's a girl she is not allowed near any boys till she's 40." The palace guards could hear the giggles from their Empress in response to Daeron's comments, but with a Dragon, at his command, some of them wondered if he was actually joking.

Kings landing

Red Keep small council chambers

"The traitor will burn!" King Aerys yelled to his small council shocking many of them they all knew now of the new Empire but deep down assumed Aerys would not bother as its leader was his son, the son he tried to burn alive then felt sad for weeks after he had run away, not that they would voice their concerns of course.

They were more than happy to leave Daeron Targaryen alone in the east, after all, he had not bothered Westeros or attempted to expand his growing Empire further west, seven hells he had married a noble from Westeros who was now his Empress who was according to reports already with child, sure she was Dornish but still a Daughter of Westeros.

"Your Grace, a war will be very expensive not to mention the size of the army that would be needed to conquer the Empire would have to be a minimum of 250 thousand men, we cannot afford it at this time, your grace."

Spoke with lord Tywin he had not mentioned that he also had a trade deal with the new empire generating him quite a nice sum of coin. That and it was fun to get some small slight at his former friend after all the jabs made at him since his wife died.

Aerys growled in anger and stormed off followed by his Kingsguard much to the relief of the council,

"Lord Tywin what do we do any war with the empire could be devastating especially if the rumours of his Dragon are true the war would turn against us very badly."

spoke one of the council members, and Tywin agreed if Daeron had a dragon and Aerys declared war thousands would die in the firestorms. Maybe just maybe he could convince the King not to go to war.

Elsewhere Queen Rhaella Targaryen was already making plans she knew her husband would start a war she was writing a letter to Daeron.

My son

I am sorry I could not attend your wedding your father forbid us from leaving the Red Keep, but I must warn you your father is planning to declare war on you and your empire.

Please, my son, you must prepare you must show the lords of Westeros that war with you is not a good move please be careful my son I do not want my family fighting each other on the battlefield.

Your loving mother

Rhaella Targaryen

Sealing the letter, she handed it to the hooded figure. "you are sure your little birds can get this to my son without my husband from finding out lord Varys."

the king's new Master of Whisperers bowed his head placing the letter inside of his silk robes, "yes your grace I shall have it sent off at once".

As he left the queen turned to her windows overlooking the Blackwater hopefully her son could do something to prevent a war, she did not want to see Daeron and Rhaegar on the battlefield on opposing sides.

Lord Varys handed the letter to one of his little birds giving the child enough coin to get there and back he too was worried a war between Westeros and New Valyria would be devastating to many would suffer and die he would stop it if he could, as he watched the trade ship sail off he returned to the castle and try his best to convince the king not to go to war completely unaware that a man in a mixture of Armor and robes was watching him this was a Shadow sentinel an elite soldier of Daeron Targaryen their speciality Assassination the question was why was he near the Red Keep.

authors note: so yes, Daeron is now married with a child on the way but his father is planning to declare war on his Empire. also, why is an elite soldier of the Empire in King's landing... no idea find out next time bye.
