It had been a month since the BTS members announced their hiatus as a group. Due to the mandatory military service, the members decided to put an involuntary pause on group activities for a while and focus on doing solo projects instead. These projects would allow the members to shape and develop their individual artistic personality.
This era of solo projects, also known as Chapter 2, was a way for ARMY and other people to get to know the members as individuals and not just as members of BTS. The group was convinced that, if each person focused on themselves and made the music he wanted to make for a while, the group would be able to come back together with much stronger synergy. They would be able to make even better music than before and show a more diverse range of colors.
As expected, ARMY was very supportive and promised to wait for their return in 2025. In the meantime, the fans would support each member's solo projects wholeheartedly. Every member would slowly start releasing music: Hobi had released Jack In The Box and the other members would soon follow.

Jungkook was at the company practicing his vocals. His solo project was still far away but he deemed it important to keep training his voice, even if he wasn't actively performing at the time.
One of the managers entered the room to announce some exciting news to the maknae. Jungkook was asked to perform at the opening ceremony of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. They also asked him to participate in writing the song.
Jungkook's eyes got so big they almost jumped out of their sockets because he couldn't believe it.

He knew he was a good singer and had grown more confident over the years but this was a big responsibility and a big honor. This would mark his first official project as a solo artist.
"Really?! They really want me to perform?!" Jungkook asked while pointing at himself in disbelief. The manager chuckled and nodded in confirmation.
"Yes, Jungkook-ssi. They've seen many of your performances and they've heard you sing. They were pretty adamant about it being you, specifically, and no one else." The manager explained.
Jungkook was over the moon and told the manager he wanted to start preparing for it right away. The manager admired his dedication but it didn't surprise him. Jungkook had always been like that: very hardworking and eager to deliver high-quality performances.
"I like the enthusiasm, Jungkook-ssi. There is not much to do yet today, but tomorrow, we will have a meeting where we'll discuss the following steps and the schedule for the upcoming weeks. For now, I suggest you go home and tell your members all about it." The manager told the maknae, who nodded happily and made his way home.
