Yeta let out a soft chuckle as he pressed his back to a wall, a cloud of smoke and snow sending debris past him from behind his cover.
“So, Mr. Omniscient, you didn't tell me they had mortars!” Ghost snapped, diving for cover from another incoming shot.
“I thought I told you that everything this guy does is beyond my experience!” Yeta snapped back, jumping back as the shot hit right in front of him, tanking most of the explosion, his armor protecting him from the little bits of shrapnel.
“Fine, I'll give you that! Just spot those mortars!” Ghost rolled out from his cover, aiming the rifle towards where they assumed the shots were coming from, only to be forced back as dozens of bullets pinged his armor for that brief moment.
“Then we need another shot for me to do the math.” The white-eyed soldier remarked, glancing through a bullet hole to see if anyone was approaching.
He glanced back over to see Ghost struggling to get his rifle back from a Cultist that had slipped around.Ghost headbutted the Cultist, to no avail due to his helmet having facial protection. However, that didn't stop Yeta from shooting a quick burst into his neck, tearing through the flesh and splattering blood on the rifle.
“Incoming, 2 o’ clock!” Ghost barked, ducking for cover.
However, Yeta just stood and watched the mortar shot drop upon them. He did the math he needed within moments, and dived to avoid the direct impact.
The shockwave tossed him, making him bounce off the wall opposite of where he was, but he recovered and landed on his feet.
“I got them, cover me!”
Yeta took a large, heavy scrap from the ship and charged into the blizzard.
“YOU DUMBASS!” Ghost yelled after him, but doing what he was told.
Of course they have something to hide the muzzle flashes. Little do they know, I never cared how hidden they were.
He lined up a shot, frowning at his lack of a scope.
Could've worked better with one, but I'll have to work.
He fired where he saw the slightest flashes of orange, successfully nailing at least 8 targets firing upon Yeta. However, he was forced back as he felt a high caliber round shred his cover, burying himself in the snow.
Is this even fair?
He didn't have time to ponder on that as dozens of sounds of footsteps in the snow failed to be suppressed by the blasting gunfire.
He kicked his leg and took out a Cultist above him, taking his knife and tearing his throat out. With barely a second to react, he had to grab the tip of the blade and heave that fucker around behind him, sending it through the eye of another Cultist. He fell from the force, knocking off the guy with a clear shot.
…
Yeta bashed the head in of an artillery-posted Cultist, using the ditch dug out for the mortar to use as cover. He quickly loaded the next shell and fired for the hills opposite of him in the valley.
He then tilted that bitch upright, calculating it to be aimed at a 90° angle with mechanical precision, loading and firing, dropping the mortar and rolling out of the hole, sliding into a snowbank to remain unseen.
He waited only for a moment, rolling out and making a B-line for the ship, just as the mortar round came back down just a few meters from where it had fired from, taking out the approaching squad.
He quietly laughed to himself, sliding his way down the hill back to the ship.
…
Ghost grunted as he snapped the last one's neck, exhaling as he felt guilty for it. He heard rapid footsteps approaching, so he whipped around with his broken knife, ready. However, he lowered it when he saw his partner.
