Chapter 2 - Ready or Not, Here I Come

(Rosie's Point of View)

*BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEEEEE* I slammed my hand on my alarm clock. I smiled at the thought of my dream I had about Jake Pratt. The school's hottest guy. Wait, did I really dance with him last night? I touched my lips and then furrowed my eyebrows in disgust of how that was even remotely possible to think about. Pushing my thoughts aside I stepped onto the cold hardwood floor of my white and purple room and headed towards my washroom.

I looked in the mirror to see my hair like a rat's tail and huffed. I stripped my PJ's off and took a shower, needing to get my mind clear for the torturous learning to come. I got out and changed into a light pair of skinny jeans, a floral tank and a grey cardigan with my white Converse. I straightened my hair and then headed downstairs.

I found my brother chomping down on a bowl of Lucky Charms which I then pourd into my bowl.

"Mom and dad left already?" I asked him already knowing the answer.

"Yeah." He replied.

As we finished up I drove him to school in my Acura and then arrived at my school. I spotted Liz and through the doors and headed towards her. Until someone crashed into me. I hit up against a guys chest.

"Awe." I yelped and took a step in the other direction. I felt warm hands on my shoulder that stopped me.

"Sorry, are you okay?" I heard his voice and knew who it was. Jake. Oh boy.

"Yeah I'm fine, thanks." I said and just started walking after I gave him a shy smile.

(Jake's Point of View)

I smiled at the girl I just hit. Funny, I've never seen her around before. Maybe she's a new student? I combed my fingers through my hair and started to my first class, AP English.

"Hey Jared! What up?" I said as I entered my class room, an empty seat at the very back waiting for me.

"Nothing much man, so hey did you get that girls number at the dance last night? So lucky, she was smokin!" Jared said cockily.

"No man, I got something but she is real. So back off okay? I have to find her she said if I really want her becasue she thinks I'm a player." I quickly made my mark. Jared and I have been best friends since fourth grade when we got in a food fight and quickly became friends afterwards.

"Okay man, but how are you going to find out who she is? This is so Cinderella Real Life." Jared remarked.

"I have no clue. " I said under my breath as  Mr. Devers began talking about Shakespeare.

While Mr. Devers was lecturing us on some homework that we had, all I could think about was "Cupcake" and the way she just was. She was perfect. Maybe I'm falling hard but just one nigth can do a man some good. The bell rang and I was off to my next class. I headed out the door and being the gentle men I am, I stood and let a girl out before me. Hey, she was the girl I hit on my way into school.

By last period I had talked to all of the populars. They only talked to me because of the way I looked though. It's unfortunate I can't find any decent people in this school except for Jared. I was relieved because I had one class left for the day, which was AP Biology. I want to be a doctor when I'm older which was mostly implemented into my brain when I was a baby by my parents.

I took a seat as my teacher said we would be going into the lab and starting our half semester project worth... a lot. I knew we would be having partners which to tell you the truth I was kinda nervous when I wasn't with people who I knew. I anticipated my name matched up with who ever.

"Jake Pratt and Rosie Evans" the teacher shouted over the partners joining up.

I had no clue who Rosie was, but I stood out of my chair and looked around.

"Um who's Rosie?" I asked to a group of kids. They all shrugged. I asked my teacher and he pointed to a girl. The girl who I bumped into this mourning. This is getting weird...

"Hey I'm Jake!" I held out my hand as she stood up with her binder in one arm.

"I'm Rosie." She said with a smile.

"I know, I accidentally bumped into you this mourning. Sorry about that." I laughed and combed my fingers through my ruffled hair. She was blushing, how cute!

We made our way to the lab and started setting up everything. We had a lot of fun... well as much fun as you can have dissecting a pig. Surprisingly she didn't gross out like most of the other girls, and watching her was quite intriguing.

"Okay class, I need everyone to get these forms signed back to me by tomorrow. We will be going on a week trip to Mount Evergreen and will be camping, immersing ourselves in the biology kingdom, and having some campfire fun! Be sure to know that your partners you have today will be your camping buddies as what we will be learning will extend back to our current assignment. We will be leaving this Friday after school." The teacher said as he passed out forms to everyone.

"I'm hoping you'll join us Rosie and Jake?" The teacher asked assuring. I nodded as he made his way on.

"This is going to be soo sweet! You are coming right?" I asked her.

"Um, yeah I guess. I haven't been camping in the longest time. We'll see how this turns out. Ready or not, I have to go." She smiled.

"Well, I have so no need to worry. Stick with me and it will be a breeze." I gave a reassuring smile.

Rosie shyly smiled as she continued to draw our dissected pig. She was a really great artist.

"You know, you are a great artist. Where did you learn it from?" I asked as she looked up from her sketch and looked down at my... artistic something and giggled.

"Ah, thanks? I used to draw a lot when I was little and I guess I just got better over the years." She replied.

*RIIIIIINGGGGGGGGG* The bell rang to go home.

"Okay nice meeting you Rosie, see you tomorrow!" I waved goodbye.

"Ya see ya." I heard her say.

Rosie brought a nice feeling to me. She was someone who I never knew before and getting to meet someone who doesn't seem to be stuck up is refreshing. She's cute too, but I still need to focus on finding "cupcake".
