Valentina's pov:
I take a deep sigh as I walk out of the car that has just driven me to my parents house. With me two men walk out.
Jason, the head of security and Antonio one of my bodyguards.
"Jason." I say, and he walks over buttoning up his blazer on the way. "Double up the security on Lily please."
"We have no men available right now ma'am." He responds making me clench my jaw before stepping up to him so we are inches apart.
"I said double the security on Lily" I say, authority lacing my voice. "Do you understand?"
"Yes ma'am." He nods his head, stepping away from me.
I run a hand through my hair before commanding "Stay out here, I want to know any suspicious activity while I'm in there. Capisci?" Do you understand?
They both nod allowing me to walk up to the front door. I unlock the front door with my spare key a sense of warmth filling me as I step in my childhood home.
"Val?" I hear my father's voice on my right.
Smiling I turn my head towards him. "That's me." He chuckles at my words giving me a quick hug.
"Who is it darling?" My mum asks as she appears in the hallway, a grin appearing on her face as she sees me.
"Hey mamma." I whisper hugging her as well.
"Com'è andata?" My dad asks as we move over to the living room. "How did it go?"
"Bene. Non c'era niente di straordinario." I respond sinking in the comfortable black couch. "Good. Nothing out of the ordinary."
"Ti ha dato l'intero importo?" My mum asks. "Did she give you the full amount?"
"SÌ." I nod my head. "Where's Lils?"
"Upstairs, probably talking to Luke." My mum answers making me release a slight chuckle.
"I'll go check on her." I smile at my parents before standing up from the couch and making my way to my sisters room.
As I approach her door I hear her laughing from the other side. A smile immediately appears on my face and I knock lightly.
"Come in!" She says.
I open the door seeing her on the bed with a phone in her hand shushing whoever is on the other line. Her eyes spark as she sees me standing there.
"Val!" She exclaims excitedly getting up and enveloping me in her embrace.
"Hey Lils." I smile hugging my sister.
"What are you doing here? I thought you had to do the deal tonight." She asks, clearly confused by my presence.
"Already did it." I nod. "Don't act like you don't wanna see me." I pretend to be hurt making both of us chuckle as she playfully hits my arm.
"I didn't say that idiota." She rolls her eyes. "Idiot."
"Babe I have to go." I hear the voice from her phone say making my eyes widen.
"Babe?!" I whisper yell and she hits my arm again before picking up her discarded phone.
"Okay baby. Goodnight, I love you." She blows a kiss to her phone.
"Goodnight princess, I love you too."
The call ends and I see faint blush upon her cheeks making me smile.
"Princess huh?" I raise an eyebrow at her and she hides her face with her hands.
"Shut up." She chuckles.
"Is it Luke?" I ask moving over to sit on her bed.
"Yeah." She smiles taking a seat next to me.
"How long?"
"3 months."
"You've managed to hide it for 3 months?!" I whisper yell again, impressed by her skills.
"I'm not like you Val, of course I managed it."
"Hey, I got caught one time." I defensively remark.
"You fucked a girl on our couch of c-"
"Shut up." I cut her off rolling my eyes.
"Never." She says. "I loved that couch you know? But just the thought of you doing that on-"
"We replaced the couch end of story." I cut her off again and she rolls her eyes.
"Whatever."
"What's Luke's last name?" I change the topic and she looks at me with confusion.
"Why?"
"I just wanna know." I shrug my shoulders.
"Smith." She answers.
"Aww your name suits it." I tease, tickling her sides. She laughs fighting my hands off.
I spend one more hour catching up with my sister. The truth is ever since I took over the business I haven't had the time to see my family and I know Lily misses me. We've always been close ever since we were kids.
"Jason?" I say as I sit in the car.
"Yes ma'am?" He turns from the passenger seat to the back seat to face me.
"I need a background check."
"Name?"
"Luke Smith."
