The red and gold flags floated gently in the breeze, the sky was bright and the sun shone down bringing light to even the darkest shadows, the courtyard was filled with Camelots people who all buzzed with happiness and excitement as the trumpets music filled the air declaring the entrance of the monarchy.

Before Arthur stepped out Merlin had placed his crown on his head, he had explained it was the same one he had been crowned with by Uther on his 18th birthday, but there was two new additions to the jewels.

"Merlin, what is that?" Arthur asks pointing to the diamond on his crown.

"That is from Gwen's crown, it was her one wish when she died, this crown has been worshipped by many waiting for your return. And Gwen wanted to know that this would remind you of her, same goes for the pink diamond on the back, that's from Edwards crown, it's even engraved-" Merlin explains and Arthur rips the crown of his head fumbling with it in his hands. Merlin turns it the right way to see the engraving.

My father.

The engraving is small but Arthur smiles with so much happiness.

"Can you do me a favour Merlin?" he asks turning the crown in his hands, Arthur explains his request and without answering Merlin's eyes light up a golden brown as he burns a reply into the jewel.

My son.

Merlin places the crown back on Arthur's head brushing his hair out his eyes.

"Go get 'em" Merlin smiles as the large doors open and King Louis steps forward onto the balcony.

Prince James was being cradled by a smiling Queen Elizabeth who wore a stunning red velvet dress that made all the young girls envious, King Louis stood at her side holding her hand and waving with his other. He had a golden jewelled crown balanced on his head and from half a foot behind Arthur recognised the jewels that he had once had on his crown. The crowd roared at the sight of the new born Prince but nothing could've prepared Arthur for the crowds reaction of him. He stepped forward out the shadows and into view of the crowds below, he was wearing his full polished armour, his sword sticking out of his belt, he wore the Pendragon Lion with pride on his cloak which floated out behind him, and he gave a quick wave to the crowd that went wild. Before King Louis got a chance to say anything the crowd began a chant.

"Long live the new born prince and long live the kings."

The crowd was alive with shouts, King Louis turned to Arthur.

"Here that? That is for the three of us" he smiles "James, you and I." he adds gesturing for Arthur to step further forward. Everything felt so recognisable to Arthur, he'd stood on this spot many times before, waving to his people, next to his family but today was different. Arthur stood smiling greatly as King Louis began his speech, he stood chest out, shoulders back and head held high like he had always been taught by Uther but he wasn't focusing on the words of the King he was too busy staring down at the one face that stood out from the rest. Merlin grinned back and waved excitedly.

The sun was slowly being suffocated by the clouds and the temperatures were plummeting towards zero, grey clouds lurked in the sky threatening a great storm. Merlin sighed and pulled the curtains shut to preserve the heat from the fire he was about to light. He looked around the room which was weakly lit by candles, thoughts rushed through his head. He hadn't had a moment to himself. Everything had changed so quickly, he'd gone from being alone and quiet to being with Arthur once more and aloud with emotion and wonder. Arthur had gone to talk to King Louis about his worries of his second life and he was already prepared for the feast so Merlin just had to meet him there. The young warlock sat on the bed and his eyes lit gold - he sat silently making the ash from the fire dance in the air in the shape of a dragon. He made it fly around the room until he returned it to the flames. With a quick look around the room he lifted Arthur's clothes into the draws, dusted the books on the shelves and placed the plate on the corner of the table ready to take it back to the kitchen. Merlin clambered to his feet and made his way towards the kitchen, following the light music and smell of fresh bread.
